The victim of the OneCoin crypto-scam, Jennifer McAdam, spoke of anonymous death threats over her book “Devil’s Coin.” The Times<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

The fraudulent scheme, founded by Bulgarian national Ruja Ignatova together with Sebastian Greenwood, operated from 2014 to 2016. The OneCoin project was pitched as a high-yield cryptocurrency, with investors earning profits not only from the asset’s growth but also from recruiting new participants.<\/p>\n

“Devil’s Coin” tells how McAdam fell for the scammers’ ploys and subsequently fought back.<\/p>\n

“An astonishing true story of the daughter of a miner who took on the creators of the world’s largest financial scam and helped the FBI convict them,” the synopsis says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The author said she personally lost about \u00a39,000 due to the scheme and convinced close relatives to invest about \u00a3220,000 in OneCoin.<\/p>\n

She was due to hold an autograph session and presentation of her book in Ireland but, amid threats, canceled the event.<\/p>\n

In November 2019, a U.S. district court in the Southern District of New York found OneCoin lawyer Mark Scott guilty of laundering nearly $400 million.<\/p>\n

In spring 2019, Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of the pyramid’s founder, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport. He subsequently pleaded guilty to several counts.<\/p>\n

In February 2023, journalists reported on the murder of Ignatova<\/a>, who was on Europol<\/a>‘s and the FBI<\/a>‘s most-wanted lists.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of Justice later charged<\/a> former head of OneCoin’s legal and compliance department, Irina Dilkinskaya, with fraud and conspiracy to launder funds. She faces up to 40 years in prison.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
