The founder of the project MakerDAO<\/a>, Rune Christensen, presented a proposal to launch a governance token<\/a> for the Spark Protocol lending platform.<\/p>\n

The goal of the \u00abpre-farming airdrop<\/a>\u00bb is to \u201cencourage long-term engagement with the platform\u201d by distributing 2 billion SPK tokens over more than 10 years.<\/p>\n

Spark Protocol is a liquidity market built on the DAI stablecoin and collateral assets for a DeFi platform. The latter is a lending interface built on MakerDAO, but operates independently of it.<\/p>\n

The solution\u2019s functionality is based on the third version<\/a> of the project\u2019s smart-contract system Aave<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The protocol is integrated with MakerDAO\u2019s PSM<\/span>. This will allow instant conversion of DAI and sDAI to USDC at a 1:1 ratio.<\/p>\n

It is expected that over time Spark will transform into one of the \u201csub-DAOs\u201d \u2014 a decentralized autonomous organization<\/a> within MakerDAO with its own governance token.<\/p>\n

New assets will be allocated to Spark borrowers using various coins as collateral. Rewards will depend on loan sizes and the duration of loan-holding periods.<\/p>\n

The Spark Protocol launch took place in May.<\/p>\n

In the future, it is planned to include farming products with fixed terms and a native synthetic derivative of liquid staking called EtherDAI.<\/p>\n

The next steps on the 2023 roadmap include adding manipulation-resistant oracles, fixed rates \u2014 Spark Fixed Rates, support for L2 solutions<\/a> and sidechains<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
