{"id":83562,"date":"2023-08-25T10:28:15","date_gmt":"2023-08-25T07:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=83562"},"modified":"2025-09-12T11:50:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T08:50:09","slug":"ark-invest-and-21shares-file-two-ethereum-futures-etfs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ark-invest-and-21shares-file-two-ethereum-futures-etfs\/","title":{"rendered":"ARK Invest and 21Shares file two Ethereum futures ETFs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARK Invest, the investment company, and crypto-asset <span data-descr=\"exchange-traded product\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ETP<\/span> provider 21Shares filed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1592900\/000182912623005634\/easeries_485apos.htm#b_001\">\u0437\u0430\u044f\u0432\u043a\u0443<\/a> to launch two exchange-traded funds (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETF<\/a>) based on Ethereum futures.<\/p>\n<p>According to the filing with the SEC, the ARK 21Shares Active Ethereum Futures ETF (ARKZ) will invest up to 25% of assets in USD-denominated standard contracts, for example, on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The fund does not invest directly in ether and does not provide direct access to spot Ethereum. Investors seeking exposure to the price of ether itself should consider other investments&#8221;, the filing states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since derivative settlements typically occur monthly or quarterly, ARKZ will hold contracts during these periods.<\/p>\n<p>The ARK 21Shares Active Bitcoin Ethereum Strategy ETF (ARKY) plans to allocate assets between Ethereum and Bitcoin futures. The fund will devote up to 25% of assets to these purposes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Bitcoin, Ether and their futures are relatively new investments that carry unique and significant risks and may be more volatile than other assets. The value of investments in the fund could fall sharply and unexpectedly, including to zero. You could lose all of your investments&#8221;, the firms warned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The remainder of ARKZ and ARKY portfolios will consist of U.S. Treasury securities, <span data-descr=\"a repurchase agreement - a deal to buy back a security at an agreed price after a specified term\" class=\"old_tooltip\">REPO<\/span> and other market instruments.<\/p>\n<p>In early August, six firms, including Grayscale, ProShares, Bitwise and VanEck, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/six-firms-file-applications-to-launch-an-ethereum-etf\">sought<\/a> SEC clearance for Ethereum futures ETFs. Valkyrie <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/valkyrie-files-to-launch-ethereum-strategy-etf\">joined<\/a> them later.<\/p>\n<p>In April, ARK Invest and 21Shares <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ark-and-21shares-file-another-bid-for-bitcoin-etf-approval\">filed<\/a> a joint application to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF.
