The head of OpenAI and co-founder Worldcoin<\/a> Sam Altman has become the first recipient of Indonesia’s ‘golden visa’. Bloomberg<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

The document grants the right to stay in the country for 10 years. The immigration authorities explained the decision by Altman’s ‘positive international reputation’, which ‘could benefit Indonesia’.<\/p>\n

‘Golden visa’ also provides expedited security checks at airports, simplified entry and exit procedures, and other benefits.<\/p>\n

In late August, Indonesia launched an initiative to spur economic development. The document allows foreigners to stay in the country for 5-10 years with ‘significant investments’.<\/p>\n

According to Bloomberg, a $350,000 investment by an individual in shares of local public companies, savings accounts, or government bonds will secure him a five-year ‘golden visa’.<\/p>\n

In June, Altman visited Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia), the agency noted. However, it remains unclear whether he applied for the document or what investments in the country he has made.<\/p>\n

Worldcoin launched<\/a> on July 24. The project’s main product\u2014the World ID protocol\u2014is based on zero-knowledge proofs<\/a>. It is a mobile identification tool based on retina scanning or a phone number.<\/p>\n

Regulators in the United Kingdom<\/a>, France<\/a>, Germany<\/a> and Argentina<\/a> have previously taken an interest in Worldcoin. In Kenya<\/a>, the project has been suspended<\/a>, and searches were conducted at the company’s warehouses.<\/p>\n

In August, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin received Taiwan’s ‘golden card’<\/a>, which provides unfettered entry into the country and the right to stay there for more than 180 days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
