ForkLog reports on the latest developments in digital fraud in News+ format.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hacking of the PEPE<\/strong> <strong>Telegram account<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On September 9, representatives of the PEPE meme project said that the Telegram group administrator&#8217;s account was hacked. The attacker also gained access to the coin&#8217;s related X account \u2014 LordKekLol.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u274c\u274c <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24PEPE&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$PEPE<\/a> Announcement\u274c\u274c<\/p>\n<p>The old telegram for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24PEPE&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$PEPE<\/a> is hacked and no longer in our control. The \u201clordkeklol\u201d account has been compromised. Whoever has gained access to this account is using it to push scams and deceive people and launch other coins. This person is lying and has nothing to do with PEPE or any current or former participants involved in the process,&#8221; the warning said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier there were rumors of a scam around the project, partially substantiated. On August 25, on-chain researchers noted that <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-multisignature-what-is-a-ring-signature\">multisignature<\/a> wallet PEPE <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/pepe-falls-20-amid-scam-suspicions\">reduced<\/a> the number of required confirmations from 5 to 2 and moved part of the assets to decentralized exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>The sole remaining developer of the meme token <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/pepe-developer-accuses-former-team-members-of-15-million-theft\">said<\/a> that three former members of the project team are behind this. In light of the situation, traders began selling their PEPE, fearing a dump.<\/p>\n<p>In the past week, the asset declined by 12%, and by 47% over the month.
