As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ru\/20230911\/sud-1895683836.html\">RIA Novosti<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The defence pressed for a postponement of the proceedings. The new lawyer for the Russian, Arkady Bukh, requested additional time to review the case documents and prepare for the trial.<\/p>\n<p>The first pre-trial conference, at which the technical details of the forthcoming hearing will be fixed, is scheduled for 17 September.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Buh allowed for <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vinniks-lawyer-signals-possible-guilty-plea-by-his-client\">a guilty plea by his client<\/a> in the event of a strong evidentiary basis against him.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Alexander Vinnik was detained in Greece in the summer of 2017. In 2020, he was extradited to France, where he was subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/alexander-vinnik-sentenced-to-five-years-in-prison-and-a-e100000-fine\">sentenced<\/a> to five years in prison and a fine of \u20ac100,000 for money laundering. Charges of extortion and creating the Locky ransomware were dropped.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vinnik-transported-to-the-united-states-shortly-after-extradition-to-greece\">Alexander Vinnik was taken to the United States<\/a>, where he faces up to 55 years in prison.
