In September, it rebranded and fully transitioned to a Bitcoin treasury strategy, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/altvestcapital.co.za\/articles\/africa-bitcoin-corporation-press-release-8-sep-2025\/\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, public companies manage 964,475 BTC, valued at over $110 billion. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/bitbo.io\/treasuries\/\">Bitbo<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/africa-bitcoin-treasury-company-unique-opportunity\">Cointelegraph<\/a>, Chairman Stafford Masie and ABC CEO Warren Wheatley noted that their business was initially focused on helping entrepreneurs and small businesses raise capital through the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Wheatley explained that their mission is to overcome the &#8220;dysfunction&#8221; of global capital markets, where small players are limited in their investment opportunities. According to him, transitioning to a Bitcoin reserve is a natural evolution.<\/p>\n<p>The top executive described the leading cryptocurrency as the &#8220;ideal alternative asset&#8221; capable of strengthening the firm&#8217;s balance sheet.<\/p>\n<p>Masie added that with digital gold, ABC could expand support for small businesses in South Africa through new financial products, citing lending as an example.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We are not solely focused on the idea of a Bitcoin reserve. Our operational business has significant potential, and cryptocurrency becomes a key competitive advantage for its realization,&#8221; emphasized the company&#8217;s chairman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can Bitcoin Help Africa?<\/h2>\n<p>According to Masie, in developed countries in Europe and America, people view the leading cryptocurrency as an alternative investment asset. In developing nations, digital gold holds immense value as a medium of exchange and store of value.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;In Africa, when financial services don&#8217;t work, people die. We live in this reality, so we approach Bitcoin from a real human necessity and survival perspective,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The ABC executive added that issues like corruption and political instability are consequences of monetary dysfunction.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Society is not broken\u2014money is. Rising food prices reflect currency weakness, not economic weakness,&#8221; stated Masie.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The company has so far raised 11 million rand ($633,000). In the first phase, it aims to collect a total of $11 million.<\/p>\n<p>Back in August, the cumulative volume of Bitcoin reserves accumulated by firms <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/corporate-bitcoin-reserves-growth-slows-significantly\">reached<\/a> a record 840,000 BTC, noted CryptoQuant analysts.
