(?Singapore) (@LayerN_Official) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LayerN_Official\/status\/1701919363815874968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 13, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Among others: Kraken Ventures, Amber Group, SALT, and a number of private investors.<\/p>\n<p>For Founders Fund, Layer N&#8217;s crypto project became the second investment in the industry after bringing on board in April a new partner Joey Krug \u2014 the former co-head of investments at Pantera Capital.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Thiel&#8217;s firm contributed $1.8m of the total, while Krug also participated in the funding as a business angel.<\/p>\n<p>The startup is developing <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\">a Layer-2 blockchain<\/a> built on Ethereum, aimed at scaling decentralized finance applications.<\/p>\n<p>According to Krug, Layer N&#8217;s long-term goal is to allow centralized exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase to offer non-custodial offerings on the L2 network.<\/p>\n<p>This is intended to address the loss of user trust in <span data-descr=\"centralized exchanges\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CEX<\/span>, which arose after <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/greed-and-recklessness-why-the-ftx-collapse-is-being-likened-to-the-2008-crisis\">the FTX collapse<\/a>. In the investor\u2019s view, the way out is to launch decentralized versions built on Layer N&#8217;s solution with an interface familiar to clients from the industry&#8217;s biggest players.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2022 the startup announced funding from FTX Ventures shortly before <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">the group filed for bankruptcy<\/a>. The team planned to build its blockchain on Solana.<\/p>\n<p>Layer N co-founder Dima Romanov said that the capital was never used, and the team decided to move to the Ethereum ecosystem.
