The report comes from <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/252586\/polkadot-eyes-support-for-1000-parachains-in-future\\\">The Block<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the sub0 conference in Lisbon, Parity&#8217;s head of development Sofia Gold noted that the upcoming update will improve the Polkadot consensus protocol. The update aims to reduce the time to produce a block in parachains from 12 to 6 seconds, as well as increase capacity by 5\u201310 times.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>&#8220;Asynchronous support enables flexible planning for our future scaling work. We have a robust roadmap that will allow Polkadot to support 1000 parachains and more than 1 million transactions per second. The design is ready \u2014 we know how to scale the network in the near future,&#8221; Gold emphasised.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The release of the &#8216;asynchronous support&#8217; in the Rococo testnet is planned for around two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The developer added that by the end of 2024 Polkadot will triple the number of validators to 1,000, calling the initiative &#8220;the most significant evolution of parachain consensus since their launch two years ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In October 2021, the Polkadot team <a href=\\\"https:\/\/polkadot.network\/blog\/polkadot-is-ready-for-parachains\/\\\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/clover-finance-wins-the-fifth-polkadot-parachain-auction\">announced<\/a><\/a> the conduct of auctions for parachain slots. The first round ended in mid-December \u2014 the winners were <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/clover-finance-wins-the-fifth-polkadot-parachain-auction\">Clover Finance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/parallel-finance-wins-polkadots-fourth-parachain-auction-slot\">Parallel Finance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/polkadots-third-parachain-auction-ends-astar-wins\">Astar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/moonbeam-wins-the-second-polkadot-parachain-auction\">Moonbeam<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/polkadots-first-parachain-auction-ends-acala-wins\">Acala<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ninth-polkadot-parachain-auction-ends-hydradx-wins\">came to an end<\/a> the ninth auction, where HydraDX won the project.
