{"id":85073,"date":"2023-09-27T16:42:24","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T13:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=85073"},"modified":"2025-09-12T21:09:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T18:09:22","slug":"no-cex-a-guide-to-alternative-crypto-exchange-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/no-cex-a-guide-to-alternative-crypto-exchange-services\/","title":{"rendered":"No CEX: A guide to alternative crypto-exchange services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In late August, the cryptocurrency exchange Binance <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-drops-sber-and-tinkoff-names-amid-us-doj-investigation\">removed<\/a> from its P2P platform banks under U.S. sanctions \u2014 Sber, Tinkoff, and Alfa \u2014, and a few days later, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/okx-and-bybit-remove-sanctioned-russian-banks-from-p2p-platforms\">followed<\/a> suit by OKX and Bybit.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, we discuss alternative platforms where you can exchange crypto assets for fiat without restrictions.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The current state of P2P trading on centralized exchanges<\/h2>\n<p>At present, four major centralized crypto exchanges (CEX) have restricted P2P trading for Russians: Binance, OKX, Bybit and KuCoin. Data: <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huobi.com\/en-us\/fiat-crypto\/trade\/sell-usdt-rub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HTX<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In addition, sanctioned banks still support <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bitget.com\/ru\/p2p-trade\/sell?fiatName=RUB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitget<\/a> and <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/phemex.com\/buy-crypto\/fiat\/p2p-markets?c=USDT&#038;f=RUB&#038;s=Sell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phemex<\/a>, which are among the <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/exchanges\/bitget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">top-50<\/a> platforms by CoinMarketCap&#8217;s spot volume.<\/p>\n<p>CEX still seem the simplest and safest option for trading cryptocurrencies, but amid tighter regulation, users are increasingly turning to alternative services: exchangers, P2P platforms and Telegram bots.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exchangers<\/h2>\n<p>Crypto exchangers are specialized services offering fixed-rate buying and selling of cryptocurrencies. Clients execute trades with the platform, not with each other.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, users search for exchangers via aggregators like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestchange.ru\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">BestChange<\/a>, which check reserves, collect reviews and rank platforms by rate.<\/p>\n<p>Advantages:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>high liquidity.<\/strong> Usually better than P2P platforms, though still behind centralized exchanges;<\/li>\n<li><strong>fast trades.<\/strong> Most exchanger trades are automated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Disadvantages:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>high fees.<\/strong> Exchange quotes are almost always inferior to CEXs and often \u2014 to P2P platform offers;<\/li>\n<li><strong>verification may be required.<\/strong> Depending on jurisdiction, exchangers may require documents confirming the customer&#8217;s identity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Telegram Bots<\/h2>\n<p>In September, TON Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ton-price-rises-15-on-telegram-wallet-integration\">integrated<\/a> the TON Space cryptocurrency wallet into Telegram. Telegram users gained the ability to buy Bitcoin and USDT with bank cards and via the built-in P2P service.<\/p>\n<p>Russian users have access only to peer-to-peer trades. The P2P platform does not charge buyers fees, while sellers pay 0.9% of the trade amount.<\/p>\n<p>Cryptocurrencies can also be traded in Telegram bots of popular exchangers: <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/bitpapa_bot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitpapa<\/a>, <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/exatonbot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ExaTON Wallet<\/a>, <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/AnyCashBot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Any.Cash<\/a> and others.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, experts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/experts-warn-of-risk-of-crypto-loss-when-trading-via-telegram-bots\">warn<\/a> about risks of this kind of trading: bots often do not undergo security audits. According to Hacken CEO Dmitry Budorin, additional risk comes from the messenger&#8217;s technical features \u2014 closed code and lack of independent checks.<\/p>\n<p>Advantages:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>convenience.<\/strong> Users trade directly in the messenger: no need to log in to external sites or install additional apps;<\/li>\n<li><strong>flexibility.<\/strong> Developers can add new features that simplify crypto exchange and expand client capabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Disadvantages:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>risk of hacking.<\/strong> Compared with CEX, Telegram bots have more potential vulnerabilities due to lower security standards. Also scammers create fake bots; before executing trades, verify their nicknames;<\/li>\n<li><strong>fewer payment methods.<\/strong> Typically, bots offer a limited set of payment gateways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">P2P Platforms<\/h2>\n<p>On these platforms, users trade directly with each other. P2P platforms act as guarantors for trades and combat scammers with a rating system.<\/p>\n<p>For a long time, LocalBitcoins led this segment, but in February 2023 the service <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/localbitcoins-to-close-platform-after-prolonged-crypto-winter\">announced<\/a> its closure after 10 years of operation.<\/p>\n<p>An alternative to LocalBitcoins is the non-custodial P2P platform <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/hodlhodl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hodl Hodl<\/a>: it has been operating since 2016 and does not require KYC. All trades on the platform are conducted using multi-signature contracts.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, emcd \u2014 the software developer for storage, exchange, and mining of digital assets \u2014 launched its own P2P platform. The company ranks among the top-10 mining pools for Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/p2p.emcd.io\/?utm_source=pr&#038;utm_medium=forklog&#038;utm_campaign=article&#038;utm_content=p2p&#038;utm_term=26-09-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emcd.<\/a> supports Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum, Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies. Until 2024, users can trade without KYC.<\/p>\n<p>Advantages of P2P platforms:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>non-custodial.<\/strong> Users hold funds themselves and trade directly with each other;<\/li>\n<li><strong>anonymity.<\/strong> Most such platforms do not require verification;<\/li>\n<li><strong>variety of payment methods.<\/strong> In addition to bank transfers, users have access to local payment systems, cash, and gift cards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Disadvantages:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>security risks.<\/strong> Users may lose funds due to carelessness or fraud by counterparties;<\/li>\n<li><strong>exchange rate.<\/strong> Typically, quotes on P2P platforms are somewhat higher than on centralized exchanges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to exchange cryptocurrency for fiat without intermediaries<\/h2>\n<p>Let us consider selling USDT for rubles using the emcd P2P platform as an example. However, amid tightening regulation, investors are increasingly turning to alternative platforms: Telegram bots, exchangers and P2P platforms.<\/p>\n<p>These platforms have been on the market for quite a while and allow users to trade directly with each other without relinquishing control of their assets.
