In particular, the SEC has long maintained that ETH is not a security, while at the same time pursuing other digital assets such as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-files-suit-against-ripple\">XRP from Ripple<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hoskinson, a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/court-orders-sec-to-disclose-internal-documents-in-ripple-case\">statement<\/a> published this summer by former SEC Corporate Finance Division director William Hinman in 2018 on Ethereum&#8217;s regulatory status proves not corruption within the regulator, but its &#8220;favoritism&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;What evidence do you have of bribery? Where are the emails? Where do the meetings take place? [\u2026] This is how the Internet works, and right now it\u2019s impossible to fix,&#8221; added the Cardano co-founder.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also argues that XRP has a completely different business model, serving clients of varying sizes without using smart contracts.<\/p>\n<p Hoskinson's remarks drew a heated reaction from the Ripple community, including the company's chief technology officer, David Schwartz.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I would argue that a government actor showing favoritism aligned with the personal interests of themselves and their friends is corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David &#8220;JoelKatz&#8221; Schwartz (@JoelKatz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoelKatz\/status\/1712587669342196170?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 12, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I would say that government officials showing favoritism in accordance with their own interests and the priorities of their friends are corruption,&#8221; Schwartz said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JVrypto64881\/status\/1712601536742948965\">speculated<\/a> that Hoskinson is not telling all the information, concealing facts about his early days working at Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>The head of Cardano was one of the co-founders of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and served as chief executive since 2013.
