The hacker exploited a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-flash-loans\">flash loan<\/a> exploit.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, Platypus halted all liquidity pools and began a security review. In a statement, the project promised to publish information soon on resuming withdrawals.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first hack of the protocol \u2014 in February, attackers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/platypus-defi-protocol-on-avalanche-loses-8-5-million-in-hack\">drained assets worth $8.5 million<\/a>. The hackers exploited a flash loan and a logic flaw in the solvency-check mechanism in the collateral contract. Later, the French police <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/two-suspects-arrested-in-france-over-platypus-attack\">arrested<\/a> suspects in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Platypus was not the only crypto project in October to recover a large portion of funds lost to cybersecurity incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the hacker <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/htx-hacker-returns-funds-after-250-eth-bounty\">transferred<\/a> 5,000 ETH to the HTX exchange (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/huobi-exchange-rebrands-as-htx\">formerly Huobi<\/a>) that were stolen in late September, for a reward of 250 ETH. The attacker of the SocialFi platform Stars Arena on Avalanche, after negotiations with the team <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/hacker-returns-90-of-funds-stolen-in-stars-arena-hack\">reimbursed about 90%<\/a> of losses from the exploit.
