{"id":86157,"date":"2023-10-24T17:00:15","date_gmt":"2023-10-24T14:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=86157"},"modified":"2025-09-13T03:43:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T00:43:49","slug":"grayscale-to-launch-crypto-sector-indices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/grayscale-to-launch-crypto-sector-indices\/","title":{"rendered":"Grayscale to launch crypto-sector indices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grayscale Investments has signed an agreement with FTSE Russell, the London Stock Exchange Group&#8217;s subsidiary, to launch indices that track cryptocurrency dynamics by sector.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In conjunction, we are introducing a new partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FTSERussell?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FTSERussell<\/a> and debuting the FTSE Grayscale Crypto Sector Index Series (&#8220;Crypto Sector Indices&#8221;), a set of 5 distinct, rules-based indices capturing the investable crypto market of Grayscale Crypto Sectors.<br \/>(3\/11) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SyH1zFU70h\">pic.twitter.com\/SyH1zFU70h<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Grayscale (@Grayscale) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Grayscale\/status\/1716795912981463125?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 24, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As part of the initiative, a new division \u2014 Crypto Sector Index Series \u2014 was created.<\/p>\n<p>The indices will cover major digital assets, grouped into categories:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cryptocurrencies for store of value, exchange or payments (Bitcoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-litecoin-ltc\">Litecoin<\/a> and so on);<\/li>\n<li>smart-contract projects (Ethereum, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-solana-sol\">Solana<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-polygon-matic\">Polygon<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li>financial-services tokens (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-uniswap-uni\">Uniswap<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-compound-comp\">Compound<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-curve\">Curve<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li>art, gaming and media assets (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-nfts\">NFT<\/a> and other similar sectors);<\/li>\n<li>platforms oriented toward the traditional market (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-chainlink-link\">Chainlink<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/filecoin-fil-how-the-decentralised-storage-blockchain-works\">Filecoin<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The indices cover more than 150 protocols and will be calculated quarterly to reflect the dynamic nature of the crypto asset class.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Investors are increasingly looking to diversify beyond the largest digital assets \u2014 Bitcoin and Ethereum. And many are turning to Grayscale to better understand this robust, evolving asset class,&#8221; said Grayscale&#8217;s chief executive Michael Sonnenshein.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In late August a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-price-surpasses-27500-after-court-ruling-in-grayscales-favour\">granted<\/a> Grayscale&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/grayscale-sues-sec-over-refusal-to-convert-gbtc-into-an-etf\">petition<\/a> in its suit against <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> for the denial <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dcg-chief-confirms-plans-to-convert-grayscales-bitcoin-trust-into-an-etf\">to convert<\/a> <span data-descr=\"Grayscale Bitcoin Trust\" class=\"old_tooltip\">GBTC<\/span> into a Bitcoin-<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETF<\/a>.
