Meanwhile, according to Apumone, the 65-year-old official&#8217;s fortune is estimated at $45 million.<\/p>\n<p>Burchett was not the only lawmaker to criticise the Commission. Representative Steve Womack of the House Rules Committee stressed that the SEC has become \u201ca victim of abuses\u201d and \u201can unwarranted financial burden on the government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the senator&#8217;s view, the best way to safeguard the agency is to curb its regulatory \u201cintrusiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIn particular, we would halt rulemaking within the Securities and Exchange Commission where there is no proper cost-benefit analysis, nor any demonstrable benefit,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, Representative Warren Davidson <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/us-congress-to-propose-removing-sec-chair-over-abuses\">proposed to fire<\/a> Gensler. He said at the time he planned to introduce the corresponding bill. The move followed SEC chief&#8217;s plan to revise the definition of \u201cexchange,\u201d which drew criticism from crypto-industry representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the politician again proposed removing the Commission&#8217;s chair from office.
