Authorities say the woman played a key role in laundering money for OneCoin. In particular, she helped transfer illicit proceeds totaling $110 million to the organization\u2019s Cayman Islands entity.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00abDilkinska helped launder millions of dollars of illicit profits that OneCoin earned through its multi-level marketing scheme\u00bb, \u2014 according to the DOJ statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In March, the 42-year-old Bulgarian national was extradited to the United States, where, on aggregate charges, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/head-of-onecoin-pyramid-compliance-faces-up-to-40-years-in-prison\">she faced<\/a> up to 40 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The OneCoin financial pyramid was founded in 2014 by Ruja Ignatova together with Sebastian Greenwood. The project was initially pitched as a high-yield cryptocurrency, with investors earning profits not only from the asset\u2019s appreciation but also from recruiting new participants.<\/p>\n<p>Ignatova\u2019s whereabouts have been unknown since 2017. In spring 2022, Europol included the OneCoin co-conspirator <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/onecoin-founder-ruja-ignatova-added-to-europols-most-wanted-list\">on the list of the world\u2019s most wanted criminals<\/a> (as of writing, her entry was not listed there). Later she <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/fbi-puts-onecoin-founder-ruja-ignatova-on-the-ten-most-wanted-fugitives-list\">appeared on a similar FBI list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the media, Ignatova <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/journalists-report-the-murder-of-onecoin-founder-ruja-ignatova\">was killed<\/a> in November 2018 on a yacht in the Ionian Sea. There is no confirmation of this information to date.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2022, co-founder and chief promoter of the pyramid Sebastian Greenwood <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/onecoin-co-founder-pleads-guilty-to-fraud-and-money-laundering\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to fraud and money laundering.
