{"id":87176,"date":"2023-11-17T13:18:06","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T11:18:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=87176"},"modified":"2025-09-13T10:07:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T07:07:13","slug":"aave-companies-rebrands-as-avara-and-acquires-wallet-developer-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/aave-companies-rebrands-as-avara-and-acquires-wallet-developer-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Aave Companies rebrands as Avara and acquires wallet developer Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The team behind the DeFi platform Aave, Aave Companies, has rebranded, changing its name to Avara. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/263372\/aave-rebrands-to-avara-acquires-software-developer-behind-ethereum-wallet-family\">The Block<\/a> reported this, citing the company.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, Avara will become the parent organisation for Aave, Lens, the stablecoin GHO, Sonar and other brands.<\/p>\n<p>Stani Kulechov, head of the project, said in a comment to <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/aave-rebrands-to-avara-acquires-ethereum-self-custody-wallet-family\">Cointelegraph<\/a> that the team would continue to push innovations in DeFi and build tools for developers, \u201cwhile offering new, intuitive and attractive products\u201d to a broader user base.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Aave protocol will continue to operate under the same brand through Aave Labs.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the rebrand, Avara announced the acquisition of the wallet developer Family \u2014 Los Feliz Engineering. Its founder Benji Taylor will join the team as senior vice-president for products and design.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTransforming into Avara and integrating Family into our group is not just changes in name or structure. It is a significant step on the path to our ultimate mission: an open, decentralised Internet that is fair, encourages participation and fosters innovation,\u201d emphasised Kulechov.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lens <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/aave-to-build-an-ethereum-based-twitter-alternative\">announced<\/a> in July 2021 as an alternative to Twitter on the Ethereum blockchain. It is a composable and decentralised <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%A1%D0%BE%D1%86%D0%B8%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9_%D0%B3%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%84\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u0441\u043e\u0446\u0438\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u0439 \u0433\u0440\u0430\u0444<\/a>, which uses smart contracts on the Polygon blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>The official <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/aave-team-develops-protocol-for-web-3-0-social-networks\">launch of the project<\/a> took place in February 2022. In July of the following year, the team <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/lens-raises-15-million-in-funding-round\">raised $15 million<\/a> from IDEO CoLab Ventures, Blockchain Capital and other investors.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, the Lens Protocol developers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/lens-protocol-launches-scaling-solution-for-web3-social-networks\">unveiled a beta version of Bonsai<\/a> \u2014 a blockchain-based solution for scaling social networks.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in November, the DeFi protocol Aave <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/aave-suspends-part-of-operations-after-vulnerability\">suspended part of its operations<\/a> after a vulnerability was discovered.
