{"id":87209,"date":"2023-11-17T19:44:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T17:44:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=87209"},"modified":"2025-09-13T10:19:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T07:19:08","slug":"canadian-intelligence-warns-of-the-threat-of-deepfakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/canadian-intelligence-warns-of-the-threat-of-deepfakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian intelligence warns of the threat of deepfakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/security-intelligence-service\/corporate\/publications\/the-evolution-of-disinformation-a-deepfake-future\/deepfakes-a-real-threat-to-a-canadian-future.html\">expressed<\/a> concern about online disinformation campaigns conducted using deepfakes.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are considering the &#8216;increasing realism&#8217; of false content in conjunction with an &#8216;inability to recognise or detect&#8217; it as a potential threat to residents.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>&#8220;Deepfakes and other advanced artificial intelligence technologies threaten democracy, as some actors seek to profit from uncertainty or entrench &#8216;facts&#8217; based on synthetic and\/or falsified information,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The agency says that the use of the technology threatens privacy breaches, social manipulation and bias.
