The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/currencies\/sam-bankman-frieds-life-behind-bars-crypto-tips-and-paying-with-fish-858097c6\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports, citing sources familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, the founder of the crypto exchange is in the same cell as former President of Honduras Juan Hern\u00e1ndez and a former senior officer of the Mexican police. One of the interviewees added that SBF had given guidance to guards regarding cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>At one of the hearings Bankman-Fried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/254630\/inside-the-courtroom-sbfs-quiet-first-day-in-court\">appeared<\/a> with a new haircut, allegedly paid for with four packs of mackerel. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-mackerel-fish-trading\">Cointelegraph<\/a>, after the cigarette ban in 2004 this fish became the most popular currency in federal prisons. Next come postage stamps and instant noodles.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/264546\/sbf-paid-for-his-haircut-with-fish-in-prison\">The Block<\/a>, in the Brooklyn detention center&#8217;s cafeteria one packet of mackerel fillet costs $1.30.<\/p>\n<p>A representative of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, in a comment to WSJ, declined to comment on the detention conditions of any person in its custody on grounds of privacy and security.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSam is doing all he can in the circumstances,\u201d said Mark Botnick, a spokesman for SBF.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The imprisoned American investor Martin Shkreli called the price of Bankman-Fried&#8217;s haircut a robbery. The hearing is scheduled for March 28, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>On November 2, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jury-convicts-sam-bankman-fried-on-all-counts\">jurors found the founder of FTX guilty<\/a> on all counts. Each count carries a maximum penalty of five to twenty years in prison.
