A few more wallets held between $20,000 and $60,000.<\/p>\n<p>The move aligns with <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-freezes-all-ofac-sanctioned-crypto-wallets\">the company&#8217;s policy change<\/a>, which envisages freezing all OFAC-sanctioned addresses.<\/p>\n<p>The new provisions are aimed at &#8220;protecting the cryptocurrency ecosystem and creating a safe and reliable user environment worldwide.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At The Block<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/266894\/tethers-new-sanctions-froze-161-wallets-only-eleven-hold-usdt\"> suggested<\/a>, that the wallets hold USDT across different chains, including<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\"> L2<\/a>-Ethereum networks. Experts found two addresses from the SDN list, which collectively hold just over 10,000 tokens. One of them holds USDT on the blockchain of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts did not find similar wallets on Arbitrum and Optimism.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-tornado-cash-mixer-and-why-was-it-sanctioned\">Tornado Cash<\/a> was added to OFAC&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/us-sanctions-tornado-cash-the-ethereum-mixer\">sanction list<\/a>, but Tether <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-declines-to-freeze-tornado-cash-addresses-without-law-enforcement-requests\">refused to block<\/a> addresses tied to the cryptocurrency mixer without proper requests from authorities.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the USDT issuer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-freezes-46-37-million-usdt-held-for-ftx-at-authorities-request\">froze<\/a> 46,370,701 USDT belonging to FTX on the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-tron-trx\">Tron<\/a> blockchain at the request of law enforcement. At the same time, the company stated there were no plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/greed-and-recklessness-why-the-ftx-collapse-is-being-likened-to-the-2008-crisis\">bail out the Bitcoin exchange<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2023, Tether <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-freezes-addresses-linked-to-conflicts-in-israel-and-ukraine\">blocked 32 addresses<\/a> totaling $873,118.34. The company linked them to illicit activity, financing of terrorism, and the war in Israel and Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the issuer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-freezes-225-million-in-usdt-linked-to-a-criminal-syndicate\">blocked<\/a> about 225 million USDT linked to an international criminal syndicate.
