To enable the transformation, they will deploy Gelato&#8217;s Rollup-as-a-Service platform. <\/p>\n<p>L2 solution from Lisk will focus on &#8216;real-world assets&#8217; (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-rwas-real-world-assets\">RWA<\/a>) and decentralized networks of physical infrastructure (<a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/academy\/article\/a-deep-dive-into-depin-decentralized-physical-infrastructure\">DePIN<\/a>).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cIntegrating with the Ethereum ecosystem and meeting industry standards brings us closer to our goal \u2014 to make blockchain more accessible than ever before,\u201d said Lisk co-founder Max Kordek.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2017, amid the bull market of the previous cycle, LSK entered the top-20 by market capitalization. However, as the industry matured, the platform lost much of its former popularity. As of writing, the asset sits at 250th place in CoinGecko&#8217;s ranking.<\/p>\n<p>The developers said that the decision to transform into L2 is largely driven by the widespread adoption of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, the Ethereum VM (<span data-descr=\"Ethereum Virtual Machine, Ethereum's virtual machine\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EVM<\/span>). The testnet launch for the updated platform is planned for the first quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Migration of the LSK token and airdrop<\/h2>\n<p>The project team also noted that the current reward-distribution mechanisms in LSK will remain in place. The token will be used for on-chain governance within the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-dao-decentralised-autonomous-organisation\">DAO<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The developers also plan to conduct an LSK token airdrop to incentivize activity on the new network.
