{"id":88529,"date":"2023-12-21T13:33:58","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T11:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=88529"},"modified":"2025-09-13T18:38:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T15:38:59","slug":"bitcluster-announces-launch-date-for-mining-centre-in-ethiopia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/bitcluster-announces-launch-date-for-mining-centre-in-ethiopia\/","title":{"rendered":"BitCluster Announces Launch Date for Mining Centre in Ethiopia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Russian industrial mining operator BitCluster will launch in Ethiopia a 120 MW data centre for Bitcoin mining in January 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbc.ru\/crypto\/news\/6583fc459a794726d9e9686e\">RBC<\/a> reports, citing company representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The facility covers 30,000 square metres and is located on the Kilinto substation site in Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n<p>According to BitCluster, the data centre can accommodate more than 34,000 Antminer S21 200 TH\/s miners with a total hashrate of 6.8 EH\/s, representing 1.2% of the Bitcoin network&#8217;s total hashrate.<\/p>\n<p>Power is planned to be sourced from renewable energy, notably the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam hydroelectric project with a capacity of 5.15 GW. Uninterrupted power supply is provided by the infrastructure of the local high-voltage substation.<\/p>\n<p>Transformers are currently being connected in the new data centre.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in October 2020, BitCluster opened a <span class='old_tooltip' data-descr=\"\u043a\u0440\u0443\u043f\u043d\u044b\u0439 \u0434\u0430\u0442\u0430-\u0446\u0435\u043d\u0442\u0440\">large data centre<\/span> at the site of the closed Nornickel plant in Norilsk.
