Since then, airdrops have become a key part of crypto.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CoinGecko (@coingecko) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coingecko\/status\/1737827537622040986?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\\\">December 21, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\\\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\\\" charset=\\\"utf-8\\\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cSince then, airdrops have become a key element of the crypto industry,\u201d the experts noted.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The second-largest airdrop was ApeCoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bored-ape-yacht-club-launches-apecoin-airdrop\">which occurred in March 2022<\/a>. Users received tokens worth $3.54 billion with the maximum price of APE at $23.63.<\/p>\n<p>In third place on the list was the dYdX project. In September 2021, the developers of the non-custodial trading platform <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/defi-platform-dydx-to-issue-governance-token-and-distribute-it-to-users\">distributed<\/a> DYDX for $2 billion (assuming the coin reached a maximum price of $26.8).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cThe total value of the Uniswap, ApeCoin and dYdX distributions amounts to $11.99 billion, representing 45.1% of the 50 largest crypto airdrops,\u201d CoinGecko researchers noted.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\">When did the largest airdrops take place?<\/h2>\n<p>18 of the 50 largest crypto-asset airdrops occurred in 2021. This is only 61.1% of the value of the 2022 distributions,\u201d CoinGecko noted.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thirteen of the 50 airdrops of the year went into the top 50. This sum is 2.9 times larger than the rival \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\">L2<\/a>-project Optimism, which <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/optimism-team-carried-out-airdrop-of-native-token\">conducted<\/a> its first distribution in late May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The second-largest airdrop of 2023 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/experts-40-of-celestia-tokens-went-to-airdrop-hunters\">Celestia<\/a> ($0.73 billion). In third place \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/media-blur-valuation-rises-to-1-billion-amid-airdrop-reports-say\">Blur<\/a> ($0.45 billion).
