Yet Blast still lacks any infrastructure beyond a bridging contract.<\/p>\n<p>If the protocol had a mainnet, it would rank second by <span data-descr=\"total value locked\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TVL<\/span> among Layer-2 networks and sixth among all blockchains. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-eu.googleusercontent.com\/Azxn7hBF93bdq0gQ7uCQclQoOFSEJcrt0rPCADBxusq7h3ZQvAZVeVRTfbEd8k1GqtIP67NTvczORRqKxoLiCtxNfTE6gQmafLqE-mtTtRspBsw7yOg4WQlpZbA6OEBmYxtlcA_5w0yAubZTqr1VjOk\" alt=\"Blast locked assets exceed $1 billion\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Top 10 blockchains by TVL. That means each user has, on average, about $11,700 locked.<\/p>\n<p>At present the protocol allows depositing through the bridge of ETH, USDC and a number of other assets to earn passive income, but withdrawals are not yet available. They will be opened with the mainnet launch on February 24, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the $1 billion in user deposits sits on a single <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-multisignature-what-is-a-ring-signature\">multisig<\/a> wallet with five signatures.<\/p>\n<p>The hype around Blast is fueled by an anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-airdrop\">airdrop<\/a>. Eligibility hinges on farming internal points that accrue for deposits and via the referral program.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main sponsors of the L2 network is <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/blast-l2-project-raises-20-million-from-paradigm-and-standard-crypto\">Paradigm<\/a>. However, the firm\u2019s head of research, Dan Robinson, criticized the protocol for aggressive marketing centered on token airdrops.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There are a lot of components of Blast that I\u2019m excited about and would be interested in engaging with people on. That said, we at Paradigm think the announcement this week crossed lines in both messaging and execution.
