{"id":89299,"date":"2025-09-26T16:51:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T13:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=89299"},"modified":"2025-09-26T16:57:31","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T13:57:31","slug":"americas-first-ethereum-etf-with-staking-launches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/americas-first-ethereum-etf-with-staking-launches\/","title":{"rendered":"America\u2019s first Ethereum ETF with staking launches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 25, REX Shares and Osprey Funds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20250925055445\/en\/REX-Osprey-Launches-First-Ethereum-Staking-ETF-in-the-US\">announced<\/a> the launch in the US of an Ethereum-<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETF<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-staking-and-how-to-make-money-from-it\">staking<\/a>. Filings from BlackRock and Fidelity remain under review by the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>As noted in the announcement, the new product with the ticker ESK \u201cbecame the first fund in the States to offer access to the spot price of the second-largest cryptocurrency and to include staking.\u201d Investors will receive monthly distributions for participating in supporting the Ethereum network. <\/p>\n<p>The Commission earlier requested additional time to evaluate applications from BlackRock, Fidelity and Franklin Templeton to add this feature to their ether-based ETFs. In September, trading in exchange-traded funds based on <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/inside-the-dog-how-dogecoins-infrastructure-works\">Dogecoin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-ripple-and-the-cryptocurrency-xrp\">XRP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/xrp-and-dogecoin-etfs-debut-with-55-million-in-trading-volume\">started<\/a> with the companies\u2019 backing. <\/p>\n<p>In August, the firms also filed with the SEC to register a BNB-based product with staking.  <\/p>\n<p>Instruments from REX Shares and Osprey Funds are structured under the <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%97%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BD_%D0%BE%D0%B1_%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B2%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8B%D1%85_%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BC%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8F%D1%85\">Investment Company Act of 1940<\/a>. It provides a shorter review period\u201475 days versus 240 days under the <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%97%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BD_%D0%BE_%D1%86%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8B%D1%85_%D0%B1%D1%83%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%85_(1933)\">Securities Act of 1933<\/a>, under which bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs were launched.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BlackRock targets an income-generating bitcoin ETF <\/h2>\n<p>On September 25, BlackRock registered in Delaware a trust for a new Bitcoin Premium Income ETF. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted the move, stressing that such a step often precedes an official filing with the SEC. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BlackRock registered the name iShares Bitcoin Premium ETF, filing coming soon. This is a covered call bitcoin strategy in order to give btc some yield. The goal is to generate regular income for investors by collecting premiums. <\/p>\n<p>However, this would potentially limit participation in the upside of the first cryptocurrency\u2019s price compared with direct investment via spot ETFs that follow the market, Balchunas noted. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe fact that BlackRock is developing a new bitcoin product while other coins are waiting for their funds to be approved is quite telling. It seems the company has decided to focus on building an ecosystem around the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation, leaving altcoins aside, at least at this stage. This opens broad opportunities for other market participants, who will now not have to face giants like BlackRock,\u201d \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/1971315023202132006\">added<\/a> the expert.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, macro analyst Luke Gromen <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/macro-analyst-elucidates-bitcoins-role-as-digital-gold\">said<\/a> that the absence of built-in yield in digital gold is an advantage that makes it a safer store of value.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bitwise bets on Hyperliquid <\/h2>\n<p>In parallel, Bitwise filed an S-1 with the SEC to launch a Hyperliquid ETF. To shorten timelines, a product must be tied to an asset that trades on venues within the <span data-descr=\"International Securities Group\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ISG<\/span>, or serve as the basis for a futures contract registered on an approved market for at least six months.<\/p>\n<p>However, Bitwise representatives noted that \u201cat present, futures contracts on Hyperliquid are not registered with the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CFTC<\/span>.\u201d Therefore, approval may take up to 240 days. <\/p>\n<p>Amid the adoption of unified rules for exchange-traded funds based on cryptocurrencies, Hashdex together with Nasdaq Global Indexes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2025\/09\/25\/3156247\/0\/en\/Hashdex-Nasdaq-Crypto-Index-US-ETF-Ticker-NCIQ-Expands-Bringing-US-Investors-Access-to-Five-Leading-Crypto-Assets-Through-One-Diversified-Product.html\">announced<\/a> an expansion of its ETP to include Stellar, XRP and Solana. Previously, it included only bitcoin and Ethereum. <\/p>\n<p>As reported, assets under management in digital-asset investment products <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/crypto-funds-assets-under-management-reach-40-4-billion\">reached<\/a> $40.4 billion since the start of the year. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REX Shares and Osprey Funds announced a US Ethereum ETF with staking.
