He announced this in a post on platform X.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As happens in one\u2019s life, I\u2019ve been taking stock of my last 40 years. It\u2019s been a wild ride. I\u2019ve gone from consulting for the NSA to watching the early stages of Bitcoin. Then, I met Arthur, Jed, and Chris and worked on coding the XRP Ledger. Now, I\u2019ve spent more than 13 years\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David &#8216;JoelKatz&#8217; Schwartz (@JoelKatz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoelKatz\/status\/1973094940646449169?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Key Developer<\/h2>\n<p>Schwartz, who played a crucial role in the creation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-ripple-and-the-cryptocurrency-xrp\">XRP Ledger<\/a>, will retire at the end of 2025. Over his 13 years at the company, including the last seven as <a href=\"http:\/\/linkedin.com\/in\/sjoelkatz\">Chief Technology Officer<\/a> and previously as Chief Cryptographer, he participated in several landmark events, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ripple-secures-approval-for-rlusd-stablecoin-trading\">launch<\/a> of the RLUSD stablecoin.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI look forward to spending more time with my children and grandchildren, and returning to hobbies I\u2019ve set aside,\u201d Schwartz wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continued Collaboration<\/h2>\n<p>Schwartz stated that he will continue to be involved with the company: he will join the board of directors and \u201coccasionally drop by the office.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI am not leaving the XRP community. You will hear from me again,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse called the developer \u201ca true legend of the crypto industry\u201d and noted that their weekly meetings will continue.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The smartest (and maybe the funniest) person I know.
