In the case of BASE, the primary goal will be to maximize COIN&#8217;s shareholder value.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Shareholders are unlikely to relinquish rights to the coin; otherwise, they would demand 100% of the tokens. From their perspective, transferring some rights only makes sense if it increases their stock value,&#8221; the expert noted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He advised the Base team to find a balance between benefits for shareholders and users, and to focus on additional value for Coinbase. In his view, it would be more appropriate to reward users for &#8220;social and consumer experience&#8221; during the coin distribution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Base is already leading among L2 [in <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-decentralised-finance-defi\"><em>DeFi<\/em><\/a><em> and by <span data-descr=\"total value locked\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TVL<\/span>], and further incentivizing these metrics is likely to attract only speculative capital,&#8221; AJC explained.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing, the total value locked in the network is $5.4 billion. We are sharing information early because we intend to develop the project openly \u2014 together with you,&#8221; he wrote.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternative Views<\/h2>\n<p>A community member known as Garfield Investments <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GarfieldInvest\/status\/1975692805042258046\">believes<\/a> that Coinbase could simply spin off Base into a separate company. According to him, the network is currently an insignificant part of the largest American crypto exchange, and its value is not reflected in COIN&#8217;s stock price.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;As long as it remains just a minor line in Coinbase&#8217;s reports, the market will not be able to value Base on par with other L2 solutions,&#8221; he wrote.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other participants in the discussion were skeptical about the value of social activity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8216;Communities&#8217; are fleeting and intangible, especially in crypto, so they are essentially useless. Only real impact matters. As a shareholder, I hope that people who used a large number of wallets to create new tokens and spam will get nothing,&#8221; <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/frogleader_eth\/status\/1975698877685576019\"><em>wrote<\/em><\/a><em> a user under the pseudonym FrogLeader.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the comments under Pollak&#8217;s tweet, users mainly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HNWcrypto\/status\/1973733680183972331\">urge<\/a> the Base team to reward developers, content creators, streamers, and other ecosystem participants.<\/p>\n<p>Some participants <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BojanAirdrop\/status\/1973753923275207082\">opposed<\/a> listing on Binance Alpha to avoid a scenario similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/joseph-lubin-promises-rewards-for-linea-holders-amid-price-drop\">LINEA case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-praises-bases-achievements-in-l2-solutions\">praised<\/a> Base&#8217;s achievements.
