If the terms of the deal are met, Ver could avoid a prison sentence. He faced up to 109 years of imprisonment in his home country. <\/p>\n<p>Spanish authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/roger-ver-arrested-for-tax-evasion\">arrested<\/a> the Bitcoin.com founder at the request of the US in 2024. He was accused of concealing capital in bitcoin, filing false declarations, and misappropriating 70,000 BTC from his companies&#8217; corporate accounts. <\/p>\n<p>Ver denied the charges. In December 2024, he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/roger-ver-challenges-tax-evasion-allegations-over-bitcoin-transactions\">filed<\/a> a motion to dismiss all eight counts, calling the prosecutors&#8217; arguments &#8220;vague.&#8221; In July 2025, &#8220;Bitcoin Jesus&#8221; also <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/roger-ver-appeals-to-european-court-against-us-extradition\">appealed<\/a> to the <span data-descr=\"European Court of Human Rights\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ECHR<\/span> against extradition to the US. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump&#8217;s Pardon <\/h2>\n<p>In January, Ver appealed to US President Donald Trump for a pardon. It <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/marla-maples-defends-bitcoin-jesus-roger-ver\">includes<\/a> a number of notable figures, including Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, Trump&#8217;s ex-wife Marla Maples, Forbes writer Jeffrey Tucker, and radio show host Alex Jones. <\/p>\n<p>Once a close associate of the US president, Elon Musk previously ruled out the possibility of a pardon for &#8220;Bitcoin Jesus&#8221;: <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Roger Ver renounced his US citizenship. No forgiveness. Membership has its privileges.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Community members also doubt such an outcome.
