Its aim is to achieve regulatory easing for Bitcoin. <\/p>\n<p>The proposal asserts that digital gold is fundamentally different from other crypto-assets and should not fall under the pan-European cryptocurrency regulation system <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-markets-in-crypto-assets-mica\">MiCA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Excessive regulation of Bitcoin service providers and users under national rules threatens Germany&#8217;s innovative potential, financial freedom, and digital sovereignty,&#8221; the resolution states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The current tax regime for Bitcoin is &#8220;fundamentally positive&#8221; (with no VAT), yet legal uncertainty persists, hindering private long-term investments, the party noted. <\/p>\n<p>The group urged lawmakers to consider Bitcoin as a strategic asset within national reserves:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The German government has so far failed to strategically recognize Bitcoin, for instance, as a technology for energy integration or, during periods of increasing monetary instability, as an asset held in currency reserves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The document&#8217;s authors also advocate for maintaining the current 12-month holding period for tax-free income, exempting the first cryptocurrency from VAT, and ensuring the right to self-custody for individuals.<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2024, German authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/germany-reveals-proceeds-from-bitcoin-sale\">sold<\/a> 49,858 BTC for \u20ac2.6 billion ($2.88 billion).
