{"id":90599,"date":"2025-11-03T21:16:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T18:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=90599"},"modified":"2025-11-03T21:20:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T18:20:14","slug":"cipher-mining-secures-5-5-billion-ai-hosting-deal-with-aws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/cipher-mining-secures-5-5-billion-ai-hosting-deal-with-aws\/","title":{"rendered":"Cipher Mining Secures $5.5 Billion AI Hosting Deal with AWS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mining firm Cipher Mining has announced a $5.5 billion lease agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support AI computing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24CIFR&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$CIFR<\/a> released its Q3\u201925 business update, marking a transformative quarter highlighted by major progress in expanding our HPC strategy and pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Cipher announced the following updates:<\/p>\n<p>*Signed a 300 MW, ~$5.5 billion, 15-year lease agreement with Amazon Web\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cipher Mining (@CipherInc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CipherInc\/status\/1985328648895758378?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 3, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Under the 15-year agreement, Cipher will provide space for equipment and power supply with a capacity of 300 MW. The project will be implemented in two phases from July to the fourth quarter of 2026. AWS will begin lease payments in August.  <\/p>\n<p>In September, the company, with the assistance of Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/google-acquires-stake-in-cipher-mining\">struck a deal<\/a> with AI startup Fluidstack. Including this, Cipher&#8217;s signed contracts will total approximately $8.5 billion for AI services.<\/p>\n<p>The mining firm also registered a joint venture to develop the Colchis data center with a capacity of 1 GW for high-performance computing. Cipher will provide the majority of the funding, resulting in its stake in the <span data-descr=\"data center\" class=\"old_tooltip\">data center<\/span> being approximately 95%.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will be located in West Texas. It is planned that the energy company American Electric Power will build a line to connect it to the grid in 2028. <\/p>\n<p>Cipher described its financial results for the third quarter as &#8220;strong.&#8221; With total revenue of $72 million, the company achieved an adjusted profit of $41 million. However, according to GAAP accounting rules, the firm recorded a net loss of $3 million.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe quarter was truly transformative for Cipher: we signed two landmark deals in high-performance computing and expanded our development portfolio,\u201d said the company&#8217;s CEO, Tyler Page.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, Bitcoin miner IREN signed a contract with Microsoft to provide cloud services based on graphics processors.
