This was reported by a representative of the trading platform to <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/11\/11\/coinbase-bvnk-2-billion-deal-falls-through-stablecoins\/\">Fortune<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was mutual, with reasons undisclosed. The parties ceased cooperation during the due diligence phase after signing an exclusivity agreement in October.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"forklog\/45758\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cAfter discussing the potential acquisition of BVNK, both parties agreed not to proceed further,\u201d a Coinbase representative stated, adding that the company will continue to explore other opportunities.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The deal could have been Coinbase&#8217;s second-largest acquisition following its <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-completes-acquisition-of-deribit\">purchase<\/a> of the crypto derivatives exchange Deribit for $2.9 billion in August.<\/p>\n<p>BVNK will return to seeking new opportunities. Previously, the company was in acquisition talks with Mastercard. Among the startup&#8217;s investors are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/09\/biti-bvnk-stablecoin-banks-crypto.html\">Citi Ventures<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/visa-invests-in-london-based-payment-startup-bvnk\">Visa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cGlobal\u201d Stablecoins<\/h2>\n<p>Coinbase&#8217;s interest in BVNK coincided with the rising popularity of stablecoins on Wall Street. Major payment networks such as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/western-union-to-integrate-stablecoins-into-money-transfers\">Western Union<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/mastercard-to-acquire-crypto-startup-zerohash-for-2-billion\">Mastercard<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/visa-expands-support-to-four-new-stablecoins\">Visa<\/a> have begun integrating solutions based on \u201cstable coins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legislation also supports market growth. In July, the US passed the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/donald-trump-enacts-stablecoin-legislation\">GENIUS Act<\/a>.
