The company later <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/apple-suspends-ai-notification-summaries-after-false-alerts\">paused<\/a> the use of AI in notification summaries for news and apps after criticism over inaccurate information.<\/p>\n<p>Google added a feature to prioritise preferred contacts from Google Messages and WhatsApp. Alerts from them arrive with elevated status in the phone\u2019s status bar at the top of the interface.<\/p>\n<p>The company will add a \u201ccrisis badge\u201d to the Contacts widget to help quickly find and track key contacts in emergencies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cNotifications about messages from people who matter to you now get priority. This helps you stay connected throughout the day and not miss anything. They will also now have a crisis badge in the Contacts widget to keep you informed of emergency alerts,\u201d the company\u2019s blog says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other updates include an overhaul of Remix, which turns still images into sketches, 3D animation and video. Pixel theme packs also arrive \u2014 with wallpapers, icons, GIFs and sounds \u2014 that can be installed across devices in one click. The first set ties in with the upcoming film Wicked: For Good.<\/p>\n<p>Google Photos now lets users edit group photos with text prompts. You can open the app, tap \u201cHelp me edit\u201d and ask it to \u201cremove Riley\u2019s sunglasses, open my eyes, make Engel smile\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>To fix an image, the AI will draw on other photos in the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Google Maps gains a power-saving mode. It keeps route notifications while extending battery life by up to four hours.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Google Maps<\/h2>\n<p>Google Maps also adds other changes, including an agent-builder and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server \u2014 a tool that connects AI assistants to technical documentation to help build interactive projects.<\/p>\n<p>The first tool lets you describe a map-based prototype in text and have it built. For example, you can enter:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>create a city tour in Street View;<\/li>\n<li>generate a map that visualises real-time weather in a region;<\/li>\n<li>list pet-friendly hotels in a city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It will generate code that can be exported.<\/p>\n<p>The agent-builder allows you to create custom maps in a specific style.<\/p>\n<p>The Grounding Lite feature lets developers ground their AI models via MCP \u2014 a standard that links assistants to external data sources.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, digital assistants can answer questions such as \u201chow far is the nearest grocery store?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Investments<\/h2>\n<p>Google continues to expand its investment in artificial intelligence. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-11-11\/google-to-invest-5-5-billion-in-german-data-centers-operations?srnd=phx-ai&#038;embedded-checkout=true\">said<\/a> it plans to invest \u20ac5.5bn in computing resources and German operations over four years.<\/p>\n<p>The planned spend includes two data centres in the Frankfurt region.<\/p>\n<p>European countries are seeking to prioritise <span data-descr=\"data centres\" class=\"old_tooltip\">data centres<\/span>, as leaders on the continent fear falling behind in AI technologies. The European Commission has urged companies to develop gigafactories \u2014 data centres capable of training and sustaining complex LLMs.<\/p>\n<p>Google characterised the investment as part of its \u201csteadfast commitment to Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An announcement-heavy November<\/h2>\n<p>In November, Google sharpened its focus on artificial intelligence, rolling out a raft of updates and new features across its services.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/google-integrates-ai-gemini-into-maps\">announced<\/a> an AI upgrade to Maps using Gemini, letting users ask the bot questions and assign tasks.<\/p>\n<p>During a trip you can ask Gemini about sights along the route or discuss other topics \u2014 such as sport or the news. You can also have the AI perform specific actions, such as adding an event to your calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the Maps improvements, Google streamlined access to AI Mode on mobile devices.
