This was noted by users on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUST IN: Someone just paid $105K in transaction fee for a single Bitcoin transaction <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AmkmG0qWnr\">pic.twitter.com\/AmkmG0qWnr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lark Davis (@TheCryptoLark) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheCryptoLark\/status\/1988239267139584203?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 11, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/mempool.space\/tx\/34bcced7ee78c7f1eb33251e50b8d6ef5dd107e1ddcb20da15f7ce57edc84d6f\">Mempool<\/a>, the sender transferred 0.00010036 BTC and set a fee of 1.026 BTC. With the average transaction cost <a href=\"https:\/\/ycharts.com\/indicators\/bitcoin_average_transaction_fee\">around $0.59<\/a>, the fee for a $10 transaction could have been approximately $0.2.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Norris, CEO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/how-bitcoin-mining-works\">mining<\/a> company Optiminer, speculated that the user overlooked the fee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIt&#8217;s not that difficult \u2014 many wallets allow setting arbitrary values. It&#8217;s hard to say whether it was an accident or intentional,\u201d he commented to <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/348233\/bitcoin-user-pays-105000-btc-send-just-10\"><em>Decrypt<\/em><\/a><em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of the transaction, the price of the first cryptocurrency was $103,000. Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.tradingview.com\/chart\/atJ4mYHE\/?symbol=BINANCE%3ABTCUSDT\">TradingView<\/a>.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Not an Uncommon Occurrence<\/h2>\n<p>In April, another user <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/user-pays-59204-in-bitcoin-transaction-fees-by-mistake\">paid<\/a> about 0.75 BTC (~$59,204) in fees while attempting to replace an already sent but unconfirmed transaction with a new one \u2014 with a higher value.<\/p>\n<p>A similar incident occurred with a participant in the Ethereum network \u2014 while transferring 0.88 ETH worth ~$2,262, they <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/user-pays-89000-for-2200-ethereum-transfer\">spent<\/a> 34 ETH (~$89,239) on gas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In September 2023, an unknown individual <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/unknown-user-paid-510000-in-fees-to-transfer-0-074-btc\">paid<\/a> a $510,000 fee for transferring 0.074 BTC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In November of the same year, a user <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/unknown-user-pays-a-3-1m-fee-for-a-single-bitcoin-transaction\">lost<\/a> a record 83.65 BTC ($3.1 million) in transaction costs.
