The weekly drop was about 10%.<\/p>\n<p>The asset\u2019s market capitalisation fell to $1.72trn, with the overall crypto market at $3.04trn.<\/p>\n<p>As bitcoin dominance remains high (56.8%), other coins followed its lead. It was due for release in early October but delayed by the government shutdown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The country added 119,000 new jobs \u2014 the biggest jump since December. Unemployment rose to 4.4%, explained by growing labour supply.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The report dented bullish expectations for the <span data-descr=\"United States Federal Reserve System\" class=\"old_tooltip\">Fed<\/span> in December. The regulator will have to decide based on less current data \u2014 October and November fell out of the statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Investors put the odds of continued easing at 71%. The incident disrupted numerous sites and apps, crypto-related ones included.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-71a67cf1bc6df162-10303326187377495.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-270290\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Reports of Cloudflare outages. Many projects rely on centralised <span data-descr=\"a distributed computer system for retrieving domain information\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DNS<\/span>, <span data-descr=\"application programming interface\" class=\"old_tooltip\">API<\/span> and cloud storage, making infrastructure vulnerable.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDecentralising blockchains through consensus, a robust validator set and smart contracts is necessary, but it represents only one side of the equation. The bulk comes from the 3.125 BTC block reward.<\/p>\n<p>On-chain data show the network\u2019s main use remains value transfers, which limits the potential for high fee generation.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uniting Ethereum\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The non-profit Ethereum Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-foundation-unveils-solution-to-unite-all-l2-networks\">disclosed details<\/a> of the upcoming launch of the Interop Layer (EIL) \u2014 a protocol meant to knit together the fragmented second\u2011layer ecosystem into a \u201csingle chain\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The solution takes a \u201cwallet-centric\u201d approach, where a user signs a single transaction for trustless cross-network operations. It is built on <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-account-abstraction\">account abstraction<\/a> and principles of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-declares-defi-sector-mature-and-secure\">&#8220;Trust Manifesto&#8221;<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur vision is for the user to interact with the entire L2 ecosystem as a single Ethereum network. No convoluted bridges, multiple chain names or fragmented balances. EIL is designed to restore a sense of unity without sacrificing decentralisation and security,\u201d the blog says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The protocol aims to make the wallet a single access point to the ecosystem with automatic support for new compatible networks. Use cases include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>moving <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-usdc-stablecoin\">USDC<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-arbitrum\">Arbitrum<\/a> to Base in one click;<\/li>\n<li>minting an <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-nfts\">NFT<\/a> on Linea with automatic consolidation of balances across networks;<\/li>\n<li>automatic coin swaps using liquidity on <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-optimism-op\">Optimism<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EIL is likened to the HTTP protocol of the early internet \u2014 just as browsers unified disparate servers, the solution would unite L2 networks into one space.<\/p>\n<p>Also this week, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-identifies-two-threats-to-ethereum-from-blackrocks-influence\">said<\/a> there are two threats to the blockchain\u2019s development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first is a developer exodus, potentially exacerbated by parts of the community being unwilling to work with Wall Street.<\/p>\n<p>Today nine financial giants, including BlackRock, manage $17bn via <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">exchange-traded funds<\/a>. A similar amount is held on balance sheets by several dozen treasury companies. Both figures beat Wall Street forecasts.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-a3a0f754628e5074-10303326147188451.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-270293\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Quarterly revenue growth at Nvidia. Source: CNBC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Data\u2011centre business brought in $51.2bn, with the rest from gaming, visualisation and automotive.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia guided revenue higher \u2014 to $65bn in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Jensen Huang said sales \u201cexceed all expectations\u201d. The Blackwell Ultra <span data-descr=\"graphics processing unit\" class=\"old_tooltip\">GPU<\/span> unveiled in March proved especially popular.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDemand for computing continues to rise in both training and <span data-descr=\"the process of handling an AI request after training\" class=\"old_tooltip\">inference<\/span> \u2014 each is growing exponentially. We have entered <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ai-enters-a-virtuous-cycle-says-nvidia-ceo\">a success spiral<\/a>. The ecosystem is expanding rapidly \u2014 there are more and more developers of foundation models and AI startups across industries and countries.
