{"id":91340,"date":"2025-11-24T15:29:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T12:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=91340"},"modified":"2025-11-24T15:31:48","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T12:31:48","slug":"blackrock-and-vanguard-sell-5-4bn-of-mstr-shares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/blackrock-and-vanguard-sell-5-4bn-of-mstr-shares\/","title":{"rendered":"BlackRock and Vanguard sell $5.4bn of MSTR shares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the first to the third quarter, investors pared positions in Strategy (MSTR) by $5.38bn\u2014from $36.32bn to $30.94bn, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/why-did-wall-street-just-dump-5-4-billion-in-strategy-mstr-stock\/\">CryptoSlate<\/a> reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In percentage terms, the decline was about 14.8% of the total value of institutional holdings in the company.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest asset managers\u2014Capital International, Vanguard, BlackRock and Fidelity\u2014each cut investments by around $1bn. MSTR traded sideways around $175.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reporters suggested that the sale of Strategy shares stemmed from deliberate, active trimming by large investors.<\/p>\n<p>They argued the shift marks a key milestone in access to the first cryptocurrency: a move from experimental workarounds to mature institutional solutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For years, Strategy was Wall Street\u2019s main way to make relatively safe, indirect bitcoin investments. That approach went mainstream.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The advent of spot <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">exchange-traded funds<\/a> and the development of regulated solutions for storing digital assets have changed everything: portfolios of <span data-descr=\"traditional finance\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TradFi<\/span> giants can now gain direct exposure to the flagship of the crypto market without resorting to compromise equity proxies.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategy\u2019s premium falls below 1\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>On 17 November, the company of Michael Saylor saw its <span data-descr=\"market-to-net-assets multiple\" class=\"old_tooltip\">mNAV<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/peter-schiff-calls-strategys-model-fraudulent-and-challenges-michael-saylor-to-a-debate\">plunge<\/a> below 1 for the first time since early 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A lower reading means the firm\u2019s market value is less than its bitcoin holdings minus liabilities. Most of them have an mNAV around 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethereum treasuries buy the dip\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>At present, 68 companies carry the second-largest cryptocurrency on their balance sheets. Amid declines in the asset and the market more broadly, firms booked significant losses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Ethereum portfolio of the largest holder\u2014BitMine\u2014has shrunk by nearly $4bn.
