Authorities purchased shares in BlackRock&#8217;s spot <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">exchange-traded fund<\/a> IBIT, amounting to $5 million, according to Lee Bratcher, president of the <span data-descr=\"Texas Blockchain Council\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TBC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CORRECTION: Texas purchased $5M on Nov. 20th. $10M is allocated from general revenue but not all $10M has been allocated.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinMagazine?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BitcoinMagazine<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lee \u20bfratcher (@lee_bratcher) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lee_bratcher\/status\/1993392123316781364?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 25, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to Bratcher, the transaction took place on November 20. He described it as the first cryptocurrency investment by a U.S. state. Official confirmation from treasury representatives is still pending.<\/p>\n<p>The allocation was made possible by the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/texas-approves-bitcoin-reserve-legislation\">SB 21<\/a> law, signed by Governor Greg Abbott in June. The legislation established a state bitcoin reserve managed by the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company.<\/p>\n<p>The latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1176347\/000117634725000009\/xslForm13F_X02\/ttstcq3202513f.xml\">13F report<\/a> indicates that the trust company holds $667 million in assets in <span data-descr=\"exchange-traded fund tracking the S&#038;P 500 index\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SPY<\/span> and $34 million in the Janus Henderson fund.<\/p>\n<p>If Bratcher&#8217;s information is accurate, the $5 million IBIT purchase will become the third position in this portfolio.
