In total, around $28 million was &#8220;rescued,&#8221; but $19.7 million, represented in osETH and osGNO, remains locked in the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-liquid-staking\">liquid staking<\/a> protocol StakeWise.<\/p>\n<p>On November 3, Balancer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/balancer-defi-protocol-suffers-128m-hack\">suffered<\/a> a breach in which criminals stole digital assets worth $128 million. Project representatives stated that the vulnerability <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/balancer-team-identifies-cause-of-128-million-hack\">was located<\/a> in one of the platform&#8217;s key components\u2014the Composable Stable pools.<\/p>\n<p>The compensation plan provides for the return of assets only to liquidity providers in the affected pools.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Funds will be distributed proportionally to the amount of tokens locked at the time of the hack. Assets will be sent in their original form.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, part of the reparations will reward six <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/who-are-the-white-hats-and-how-do-they-protect-the-blockchain-industry\">&#8220;white hats&#8221;<\/a> who managed to recover a total of $3.86 million. They will receive 10% of the recovered assets.<\/p>\n<p>The largest amount was returned by a hacker under the pseudonym Anon #1\u2014$2.68 million on the Polygon network. Cybersecurity specialist BitFinding recovered $963,832 in Ethereum.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-c306f652e39673a3-10746303135675321.webp\" alt=\"{937798FF-6F6C-484B-8D79-E68B794E4111}\" class=\"wp-image-270759\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Funds recovered by white-hat hackers. Source: Balancer forum.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To receive rewards, they must verify their identity through a <span data-descr=\"know your customer\" class=\"old_tooltip\">KYC<\/span> process. For this reason, one of the white-hat hackers declined the reward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Balancer has set a 180-day period for submitting claims.
