Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK, the company behind Cardano, said the scammers have no affiliation with the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The issue was brought up on Twitter by Hashkey\u2019s Head of Marketing Mo Li. She shared a photo from the blockchain conference showing a group of people holding a banner that read \u201cAD Roadshow.\u201d Mo Li noted that those people were part of a scheme that uses Cardano\u2019s brand name and ADA token, as well as Charles Hoskinson\u2019s picture, to \u201cshill Ada to the old and rich farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Video of MLM shilling Ada to the old and rich farmers in case anyone hasn\u2019t seen it&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tD3X0Q3uaQ\">pic.twitter.com\/tD3X0Q3uaQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Molly (@bigmagicdao) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bigmagicdao\/status\/1279686962459246593?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 5, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to Mo Li, the project promoted by the alleged scammers is Asian Dragon, which corresponds to the \u201dAD\u201d acronym seen on the banner. The project has a partially operational, crudely translated website describing a \u201cwealth coin\u201d and an underlying payment system in the making. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/asian-dragon\">market cap<\/a> of AD coin is $42,811 and its daily trading volume is about $490, at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IOHK_Charles\/status\/1279777345046528003\">said<\/a> that neither he nor IOHK, the company behind Cardano, has to do with the event or people in the photo.<\/p>\n<p>8BTC, a Chinese media company that organized the conference in question, denied any affiliation with the Asian Dragon project and its promotion.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We 8btc, host of the HangzhouInternationalBlockchain Week conference, has NOTHING to do with this AD project. We condemn such actions and will watch to keep them off<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Gwei Research (@btcinchina) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/btcinchina\/status\/1279949968174792704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 6, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Notably, Hoskinson denied the assumed connection between ADA\u2019s market cap growth and the alleged Chinese scammers, which was implied by the phrase \u201cADA is ranked no.6 now, after it got shilling to the old farmers by MLM.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#39;ll have someone contact you. Please do not automatically assume these types of events are coordinated by us. They are also done with every other top ten crypto currency. They are scams.
