The service&#8217;s main competitor, Kalshi, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.kalshi.com\/p\/kalshi-cnn-prediction-market-partnership\">collaborates<\/a> with CNN.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, Polymarket&#8217;s valuation reached $9 billion following investment rounds. This new direction will be implemented through integration with the Parcl protocol.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Under Fire<\/h2>\n<p>Polymarket <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/985ae542-1ab4-491e-8e6e-b30f6a3ab666\">came<\/a> under scrutiny for refusing to classify U.S. actions in Venezuela as an &#8220;invasion.&#8221; The funds in the controversial contract exceeded $10.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Platform representatives explained their decision: the special forces raid and the capture of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro do not meet the criteria for an invasion. According to the rules, a payout requires the start of a military offensive aimed at controlling the country&#8217;s territory. The capture or arrest of a state leader does not fall under this definition.<\/p>\n<p>The situation was complicated by conflicting results in related markets. The contract &#8220;Presence of U.S. Forces in Venezuela&#8221; closed with a &#8220;Yes&#8221; result just hours after the operation. Amid this, &#8220;invasion&#8221; quotes surged but plummeted below 5 cents after arbitrators&#8217; clarifications.<\/p>\n<p>Users expressed dissatisfaction in comments. One participant called the decision &#8220;arbitrary,&#8221; noting the absurdity that a military operation and the abduction of a head of state are not classified as an invasion.<\/p>\n<p>The situation was further inflamed by the success of an anonymous trader who earned over $400,000 from events in Venezuela. Suspicion arose as the account was created on December 26\u2014just days before the special operation.<\/p>\n<p>The user made a series of accurate bets:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Maduro&#8217;s removal:<\/strong> wagered $32,000 at a 7% probability and received a full payout;<\/li>\n<li><strong>U.S. troops:<\/strong> bought positions at 12 cents and closed them at 100;<\/li>\n<li><strong>invasion:<\/strong> bought &#8220;shares&#8221; of the contract at 6 cents and managed to sell them at 18 during the peak of confusion, securing a 200% profit before the price collapse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The incident attracted the attention of authorities.
