IMO three problems:<\/p>\n<p>1. Ideally figure out an index to track that&#8217;s better than USD price<br \/>2. Oracle design that&#8217;s decentralized and is not capturable with a large pool of money<br \/>3. Solve the problem that staking yield is competition\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 vitalik.eth (@VitalikButerin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VitalikButerin\/status\/2010253778365055363?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 11, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The developer identified three main demands of the segment:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stablecoins need an index that &#8220;is better than the dollar rate.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>A decentralized oracle resistant to capture by large pools is necessary.<\/li>\n<li>The issue of competition for staking yield needs to be addressed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTracking the US dollar is fine in the short term, but in my view, part of the sustainability concept should be independence even from this price ticker. What if hyperinflation occurs over a 20-year horizon?\u201d Buterin noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the absence of a secure oracle to protect against protocol capture, developers typically &#8220;inflate&#8221; the token&#8217;s value to make an attack prohibitively expensive. However, to maintain a high rate, the project must promise investors super-profits, extracting them through high fees. This makes using the protocol unprofitable.<\/p>\n<p>Buterin described this situation as a &#8220;dead end,&#8221; as such systems lack &#8220;protection asymmetry&#8221;\u2014in this case, both attack and defense of the protocol boil down to a &#8220;financial race.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the main reasons why I constantly oppose financial governance [\u2026]. And, of course, it is one of the main reasons why I do not intend to completely abandon <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-dao-decentralised-autonomous-organisation\">DAOs<\/a>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the context of staking, the programmer emphasized that even a couple of extra percentage points of <span data-descr=\"annual percentage yield\" class=\"old_tooltip\">APY<\/span> negatively affect the coin.
