{"id":93159,"date":"2026-01-15T10:56:57","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T07:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=93159"},"modified":"2026-01-15T11:00:37","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T08:00:37","slug":"sec-concludes-investigation-into-zcash-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/sec-concludes-investigation-into-zcash-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC Concludes Investigation into Zcash Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed its case against the non-profit <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-zcash-zec\">Zcash<\/a> Foundation, the entity behind the development of the privacy-focused cryptocurrency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are pleased to announce that the SEC has concluded its review and informed us that it does not intend to recommend any enforcement action or other changes against Zcash Foundation regarding this matter. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zjxfh3mmst\">https:\/\/t.co\/zjxfh3mmst<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Zcash Foundation \ud83d\udee1\ufe0f (@ZcashFoundation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZcashFoundation\/status\/2011488018465538541?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 14, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWe are pleased to announce that the SEC has concluded its review and officially informed us that it sees no grounds for enforcement actions or any sanctions against the Zcash Foundation,\u201d representatives of the organization noted.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The foundation received a subpoena in August 2023 as part of a broad investigation into \u201ccertain cryptocurrency offerings.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SEC&#8217;s decision reflects a shift in policy under the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Over the past year, the agency has closed dozens of cases against major crypto companies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-concludes-investigation-with-coinbase\">Coinbase<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/us-court-finalizes-secs-case-closure-against-ripple\">Ripple<\/a>, and has also <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-ends-probe-into-defi-protocol-aave\">halted investigations<\/a> into several DeFi protocols.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the past 24 hours, the price of ZEC has risen by 3.7%. In early January, the team at Electric Coin Company (ECC), the primary developer of the cryptocurrency, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/zcash-developers-depart-ecc-amid-internal-conflict\">left<\/a> the company en masse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The incident impacted the asset&#8217;s prices, allowing Monero to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/monero-reclaims-top-spot-as-leading-privacy-coin-amid-zcash-team-departure\">regain<\/a> its lead in the privacy coin sector.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back in the USA<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-algorand-algo\">Algorand<\/a> Foundation has announced its relocation to the United States with a revamped board of directors. Its CEO, Lucas Bruder, explained the decision as a \u201c180-degree turn\u201d in the country&#8217;s stance towards the crypto industry following Trump&#8217;s inauguration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWith such a more constructive approach to innovation, focused on clear laws and protective measures for consumers and market participants, crypto operations, projects, and businesses can and should return to operate in the U.S.,\u201d he wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in October 2025, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-ceo-confirms-us-market-entry-timeline\">confirmed<\/a> the company&#8217;s timeline for entering the U.S. market.
