Source: CoinGecko.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite the mass failures, the total number of crypto projects continued to grow rapidly:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2021 \u2014 428,383;<\/li>\n<li>2025 \u2014 20.2 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CoinGecko explained the trend by the ease of launching tokens through specialized platforms like Pump.fun, leading to an explosive emergence of low-quality meme coins and other speculative tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2024 remained record-breaking for the number of new cryptocurrencies, with over 3 million projects launched.<\/p>\n<p>Back in late December, CoinGecko experts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coingecko-identifies-most-profitable-sectors-in-the-crypto-market\">identified<\/a> the most profitable sectors in the crypto market.
