{"id":93241,"date":"2026-01-16T18:46:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T15:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=93241"},"modified":"2026-01-16T18:50:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T15:50:14","slug":"belgian-bank-to-launch-regulated-bitcoin-and-ethereum-trading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/belgian-bank-to-launch-regulated-bitcoin-and-ethereum-trading\/","title":{"rendered":"Belgian Bank to Launch Regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum Trading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Belgium&#8217;s largest banks, KBC, will <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.kbc.com\/as-of-mid-february-kbc-will-be-the-first-belgian-bank-to-offer-the-possibility-to-buy-and-sell-crypto-through-bolero\">launch<\/a> the option for retail clients to buy and sell leading digital assets by market capitalization starting February 16.<\/p>\n<p>The institution will implement the option in accordance with the set of European rules <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-markets-in-crypto-assets-mica\">MiCA<\/a> and based on its own platform, Bolero.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This will allow self-directed investors in Belgium to invest in cryptocurrencies in a safe and fully regulated environment, marking the first such instance in the country,&#8221; the press release states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Research indicates that about 45% of Belgians aged 30-40 have already invested in cryptocurrencies. KBC&#8217;s Bolero solution targets this demographic, with 60% of its users under 40. The most popular search on the service&#8217;s website is &#8220;bitcoin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bolero operates solely on an execution-only basis. Clients make their own decisions and do not receive investment advice. However, they must pass tests on knowledge, experience, and awareness of potential risks.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We have noticed that digitally-oriented clients are particularly interested in this type of product. As a platform for self-directed investors, we offer them full control over their investments, without consultations, but with necessary support,&#8221; explained Bolero CEO C\u00e9line Pfister.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To mitigate fraud risks and involvement in money laundering, the platform uses a closed system\u2014users buy and sell cryptocurrency exclusively within Bolero.
