Meanwhile, user fees have dropped to record lows.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/data\/on-chain-metrics\/ethereum\/transactions-on-the-ethereum-network-daily\/embed\" title=\"Transactions on the Ethereum Network (Daily, 7DMA)\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The seven-day average of transactions has approached 2.5 million, double the figures from last year. A sharp increase in on-chain activity began in mid-December following a prolonged decline.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the load, the average gas cost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/data\/on-chain-metrics\/ethereum\/average-transaction-fee-on-ethereum\">fell<\/a> to $0.15. Standard Chartered Bank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/385097\/standard-chartered-says-2026-will-be-the-year-of-ethereum\">noted<\/a> that they account for up to 40% of all transactions. Jeffrey Kendrick, head of digital asset research, has already dubbed 2026 the &#8220;year of Ethereum.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Interest in passive income is rising concurrently: 36 million ETH is locked in <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-staking-and-how-to-make-money-from-it\">staking<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-staking-reaches-record-30-of-supply\">30% of market supply<\/a>). The queue to launch validators has exceeded 2.5 million coins, the highest since August 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/buterin-advocates-a-return-to-ethereums-core-values\">stated<\/a> that in 2026 the community will focus on privacy protection and user autonomy.
