Two scenarios are excluded: where everyone is &#8220;retired&#8221; due to artificial intelligence and where authoritarian structures permanently strip the masses of power;<\/li>\n<li>the world does not explode \u2014 neither in the form of a &#8220;classic apocalypse&#8221; from superintelligent AI nor in more chaotic scenarios.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;In the long term, this may include seemingly crazy things like digitizing human consciousness or merging with AI. These concern those who want to keep up with extremely intelligent entities capable of thinking millions of times faster on a silicon basis,&#8221; Buterin noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the foreseeable future, the discussion revolves around more &#8220;familiar&#8221; ideas, yet still requiring deep rethinking compared to previous computational paradigms.<\/p>\n<p>The developer outlined four areas he sees for joint development with Ethereum.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tools for Private Interaction with AI<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Buterin believes it is necessary to devise ways for trustless work with artificial intelligence. These include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>local tools for <span data-descr=\"large language model\" class=\"old_tooltip\">LLM<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-zero-knowledge-proof\">ZK<\/a>-payments for <span data-descr=\"application programming interface\" class=\"old_tooltip\">API<\/span> calls \u2014 to access remote models without revealing one&#8217;s identity from request to request;<\/li>\n<li>work on cryptographic methods to enhance AI privacy;<\/li>\n<li>verification of cryptographic proofs on the client side, confirmation of <span data-descr=\"Trusted Execution Environment\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TEE<\/span>, and any other forms of server guarantees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;These are the same types of things we could build for computations not related to LLM,&#8221; the developer noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ethereum as an Economic Layer for AI Interactions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In this category, Buterin included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>API calls;<\/li>\n<li>bots hiring other bots;<\/li>\n<li>insurance deposits, and over time, more complex constructs like on-chain dispute resolutions;<\/li>\n<li><span data-descr=\"a new standard in the Ethereum network, creating a unified system of identification and reputation for AI agents\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ERC-8004<\/span> and AI reputation ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The goal is to provide neural networks with tools for economic interaction. This will make decentralized AI architectures viable.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Realizing the Cypherpunk Vision of the &#8220;Mountain Hermit&#8221;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The concept involves creating an environment where everything is verifiable. Currently, it is impractical, as people are physically unable to analyze all the code. Thanks to LLM, the idea can be realized.<\/p>\n<p>In this category, Buterin included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>interaction with Ethereum-based applications without relying on third-party interfaces;<\/li>\n<li>a local model that suggests transactions itself;<\/li>\n<li>another neural network verifies operations created by decentralized application interfaces;<\/li>\n<li>auditing smart contracts and assisting in interpreting the meaning of <span data-descr=\"Future Value\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FV<\/span> proofs;<\/li>\n<li>verification of application and protocol trust models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Creating More Efficient Markets and Governance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Prediction and decision markets, decentralized governance, <span data-descr=\"a democratic decision-making method where participants buy votes with a special currency, with the price of votes increasing quadratically\" class=\"old_tooltip\">quadratic voting<\/span>, <span data-descr=\"trading procedures where participants bid on sets (combinations) of interrelated goods or lots, rather than just individual items\" class=\"old_tooltip\">combinatorial auctions<\/span>, universal barter economy, and various constructs sound great in theory but are severely constrained in reality by the limits of human attention and decision-making ability, Buterin believes.<\/p>\n<p>LLM removes this problem and greatly scales human judgment, meaning people can revisit all these ideas and rethink them.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;All of this is something Ethereum can help make a reality. The ideas are also in the spirit of <span data-descr=\"defensive accelerationism \u2014 a concept proposed by Vitalik Buterin that advocates for the prioritization of defensive and decentralized technologies to counter the risks of uncontrolled technological progress\" class=\"old_tooltip\">d\/acc<\/span>: they enhance decentralized collaboration and improve protection. We can return to the best ideas of 2014, add many new and more advanced ones, and with AI and ZK, we have a completely different set of tools to bring them to life,&#8221; Buterin concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In February, the developer categorized <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-algorithmic-stablecoins\">algorithmic stablecoins<\/a> as &#8220;true&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-decentralised-finance-defi\">DeFi<\/a>.
