Our hash rate will continue to grow, and we intend to mine more bitcoins in the interests of shareholders,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bitdeer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitdeer-surpasses-mara-with-ai-investment-and-bitcoin-sales\">surpassed<\/a> the previous leader by capacity \u2014 MARA Holdings (63.2 EH\/s at present). Of that, 189.9 BTC were mined over the prior seven days.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe current value of 0 does not mean it will always be so,\u201d \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JihanWu\/status\/2025550555205280097\">noted<\/a> Wu.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Miner capitulation (selling bitcoin reserves) is seen by some market participants as a factor marking a bottom. Historically, BTC has only briefly lingered below the \u201cpain point\u201d \u2014 the price at which mining the first cryptocurrency is unprofitable. Entities linked to the USDT issuer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theenergymag.com\/news\/2026-02-22\/tether-reload-bitdeer\">made<\/a> a new series of securities purchases worth $42m, lifting their stake above 20%.<\/p>\n<p>Tether\u2019s investment arm holds 38.3m Class A shares. Late last year the company moved in the opposite direction \u2014 starting in September it reduced its <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-invests-100-million-in-bitdeer\">stake in Bitdeer<\/a> amid rising prices, selling about 7.7m BTDR at an average price of $21.6 and raising $166m.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A bet on AI<\/h2>\n<p>Alongside boosting hash rate, Bitdeer is accelerating a shift to AI infrastructure \u2014 deploying NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 systems in Malaysia and repurposing several sites in the US and Europe from cryptocurrency mining to AI data centres.<\/p>\n<p>Building this line of business requires far greater capital outlays than incremental mining expansion, as it involves large <span data-descr=\"graphics cards\" class=\"old_tooltip\">GPU<\/span> clusters and <span data-descr=\"data center\" class=\"old_tooltip\">data centre<\/span> upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>In February Bitdeer <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.bitdeer.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/bitdeer-announces-pricing-upsized-us3250-million-convertible\">issued<\/a> $325m in convertible notes and raised $43.5m via an equity offering to fund data-centre expansion, <span data-descr=\"high-performance computing\" class=\"old_tooltip\">HPC<\/span> build-out and cloud AI solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Rivals are <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bit-digital-shifts-focus-from-bitcoin-mining-to-ai-and-ethereum\">moving<\/a> in a similar direction. Riot Platform recently <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/riot-platforms-sells-1080-btc-to-expand-in-ai\">sold<\/a> bitcoins to finance operations and expand into artificial intelligence.
