Activity is concentrating on the most liquid exchange, which is typical during periods of structural shifts in the market, the analyst said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Outflows from OKX and Kraken were 3.83m ETH and 1.04m ETH, respectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Large withdrawals reduce the number of coins available for spot trading. Once moved to private wallets or into <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-staking-and-how-to-make-money-from-it\">staking<\/a>, Ethereum becomes less liquid in the short term. According to Arab Chain, shrinking exchange balances can increase the cryptocurrency\u2019s price volatility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Binance\u2019s ETH reserves fell to 3.46m \u2014 the lowest since 2020. In previous cycles, balances topped 5m coins before declining, forming a sequence of lower peaks. If buying pressure rises as reserves fall, order-book liquidity could tighten around the key $2,000 level. Over the longer term, this could prove supportive for Ethereum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another positive signal is the large queue to enter staking. As of 4 March, 3.3m ETH were queued for lock-up (an estimated wait of about 60 days).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The figure remains near record levels. Do not try to become the next Apple or Google by treating cryptocurrencies as a tech sector whose task is merely to increase efficiency and polish,\u201d he wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also acknowledged growing unease: amid pervasive surveillance, wars and social networks turning into \u201czones of memetic warfare\u201d, Ethereum does not yet feel like a real force improving people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe harsh truth is that Ethereum is absent from the real improvement of the lives of those who suffer from these phenomena \u2014 even in the areas that truly matter to us: freedom, privacy, the security of digital life, the ability of communities to self-organise,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As a remedy, Buterin proposed the concept of \u201csanctuary technologies\u201d. This refers to open-source software that lets people live, work, communicate and manage risks under external pressure. The key aim is to prevent governments, corporations or individual monopolists from gaining total control over digital life.<\/p>\n<p>He dubbed the objective \u201cdetotalisation\u201d. The approach is meant to lower the stakes of global confrontation: the winner should not gain absolute power, and the loser should not suffer total defeat.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks echo the ideas of the 1990s <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-cryptography-who-are-the-cypherpunks\">cypherpunks<\/a> movement, which warned of the dangers of centralised control and mass surveillance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lately, Buterin has spoken more often about the principles and values of the network behind the second-largest cryptocurrency.
