There are big players, old-timers, who believe in it. And what happens when people believe in something? They create a self-fulfilling prophecy,\u201d he said on the podcast The Wolf Of All Streets.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his view, spot bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETFs<\/a> have smoothed cyclical swings thanks to institutional inflows. Strong demand has dampened volatility, but historical patterns have not vanished entirely.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, some analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/k33-analysts-declare-the-end-of-bitcoins-four-year-cycle\">believe<\/a> the four-year cycles have lost relevance.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expectations versus reality<\/h2>\n<p>Scaramucci admitted he had expected the price of digital gold to reach $150,000 as early as 2025, like other market participants. The spur for those optimistic forecasts was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/trumps-victory-spurs-over-10-surge-in-cryptocurrency-company-stocks\">the election of Donald Trump<\/a> as US president.<\/p>\n<p>However, the sharp plunge in October \u201cshattered\u201d the prevailing consensus. Amid a record volume of liquidations, bitcoin tumbled from <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoins-surge-to-126000-revitalises-retail-investors\">an all-time high above $126,000<\/a> to $60,000.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, markets often move against dominant sentiment, as they did in early 2023 after the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/greed-and-recklessness-why-the-ftx-collapse-is-being-likened-to-the-2008-crisis\">collapse of the FTX exchange<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe bull phase began at a moment of general indifference and apathy. The current drop is a routine correction, just like in past times,\u201d he added.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Scaramucci said the price may largely move sideways for most of this year, with gains resuming only in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is happening in markets?<\/h2>\n<p>Over the weekend bitcoin fell below $69,000 amid an escalation of the conflict in Iran. The war has entered its fourth week and is weighing on markets. Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116269822349947644\">threatens<\/a> new strikes on the country\u2019s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing bitcoin trades around $68,400. Australia\u2019s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 slipped 0.8%.<\/p>\n<p>The gold price <a href=\"https:\/\/goldprice.org\/\">fell<\/a> nearly 7% to $4128 an ounce. Silver dropped 8.9% to $61.9.<\/p>\n<p>Brent crude jumped <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.investing.com\/commodities\/brent-oil-historical-data\">2%<\/a> to $108. At the time of writing WTI trades <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.investing.com\/commodities\/crude-oil\">at $100<\/a>, up 2.2% on the day.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ETF<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, exchange-traded funds tied to bitcoin notched four straight positive weeks.
