On Thursday, March 26, bitcoin turned lower, sliding from $72,000 to $68,000 in a day.<\/p>\n<p>The sell-off extended on Friday as the asset <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-falls-below-67000-as-etf-outflows-and-a-stronger-dollar-bite\">plunged<\/a> to $65,000. Prices reacted to reports of an escalation in the Middle East and outflows from <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETFs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Spot bitcoin funds snapped a four-week run of inflows. CryptoQuant analyst Ignacio Moreno de Vicente called it a bullish signal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-b95521b5f85b554e-398938660391219.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-277608\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: X.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Such levels indicate miners are sending fewer coins to exchanges than usual relative to the yearly average, structurally reducing sell pressure.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cMPI reflects the relative behavior of sellers, but does not show who absorbs the supply. Without a clear expansion of demand (spot flows, ETF inflows or positioning in derivatives), a low MPI alone cannot deliver a sustained upward move,\u201d de Vicente added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The signal strengthens when the gauge turns up from lows, pointing to a return of activity as conditions improve.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CoinShares analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinshares-analysts-report-20-of-bitcoin-miners-capitulate\">recorded<\/a> a capitulation by 20% of bitcoin miners. They said the fourth quarter of 2025 was the toughest for miners after the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-bitcoin-halving\">halving<\/a>. The weighted-average cost per coin among public firms reached $79,995.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-7b15adb5bdc26834-398938552764566.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-277607\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: CoinShares.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At risk are operators with outdated hardware and high power costs.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-generation rigs run below breakeven at the current hashprice, especially if electricity is $0.05\/kWh or higher. To stay profitable, they need cheaper tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Sideways bitcoin prices would worsen matters. Head of research James Butterfill said a prolonged slump would force inefficient capacity offline, slowing hashrate growth and eventually rebalancing returns.<\/p>\n<p>Large miners also kept selling reserves. This week MARA Holdings <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/mara-miner-sells-15133-btc-for-1-1-billion\">said<\/a> it sold 15,133 BTC for roughly $1.1bn.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds will go towards repurchasing the company\u2019s own bonds.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Talking points for friends<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the US, bitcoin-backed lending services <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-backed-loans-to-debut-in-the-united-states\">will see<\/a> launch.<\/li>\n<li>A dispute over cryptocurrencies <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cryptocurrency-dispute-divides-swiss-banking-dynasty\">split<\/a> a Swiss banking dynasty.<\/li>\n<li>In Russia, lawmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/russia-considers-limiting-ai-use-in-education\">proposed<\/a> curbing the use of AI in education.<\/li>\n<li>Brad Garlinghouse <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/brad-garlinghouse-sees-stablecoins-as-cryptos-chatgpt-moment\">called<\/a> stablecoins crypto\u2019s \u201cChatGPT moment\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethereum\u2019s quantum defence<\/h2>\n<p>The non-profit Ethereum Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-foundation-to-implement-quantum-security-by-2029\">unveiled<\/a> a roadmap to protect the blockchain from quantum computers, envisaging four <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-hard-fork\">hard forks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Key updates include:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fork I will give validators a public key that can be activated if a quantum computer suddenly emerges.<\/li>\n<li>Fork J will cut gas costs for verifying secure signatures.<\/li>\n<li>Fork L will introduce state compression using zero-knowledge proofs to pack state and signature data more compactly.<\/li>\n<li>Fork M will protect L2 networks against future quantum threats.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-c5382ddad54285d1-398938521926155.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-277605\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: Ethereum Foundation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The transition will touch all three layers of the protocol \u2014 execution, storage and data availability.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation estimates \u201ccryptographically significant\u201d machines are at least eight, perhaps twelve, years away. Preparation, however, should begin now.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cQuantum computing will ultimately break public-key cryptography, which provides ownership, authentication and consensus across all digital systems. Work must begin long before the threat becomes reality,\u201d the Ethereum Foundation noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The team aims to complete the network overhaul by 2029, though full migration will take several more years.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sora shuts down<\/h2>\n<p>OpenAI <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/openai-to-discontinue-sora\">announced<\/a> it was shutting its Sora app for AI video generation, without giving reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Despite buzz after the launch of the updated Sora 2 model and its eponymous social network, the product failed to retain users. Downloads peaked in November 2025 at about 3.3m across the App Store and Google Play, but fell to 1.1m by February.<\/p>\n<p>The Sora social network was conceived as a TikTok analogue with an AI bent. Its signature cameos feature let users scan their faces, create realistic deepfakes of themselves and share them with others to generate collaborative clips.<\/p>\n<p>The Sora 2 model remains available, but on a paid basis via ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI also <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/openai-abandons-instant-checkout-feature-in-chatgpt\">scrapped<\/a> its Instant Checkout feature, launched in September 2025. The tool enabled users to confirm orders, delivery and payment without leaving the chatbot interface.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe company underestimated how complex implementing transactions would be. On the one hand, it\u2019s a little surprising, but on the other \u2014 it\u2019s not easy for retailers either,\u201d said Bob Hetu, an analyst at research and consulting firm Gartner.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After reviewing project strategy, OpenAI plans to make ChatGPT a \u201csuper-app\u201d \u2014 a single ecosystem for the Codex coding assistant, the Atlas browser and the chatbot, housed in one desktop application. Sora is likely to be folded in as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also on ForkLog:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NYSE <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nyse-partners-with-securitize-to-launch-tokenized-stock-trading\">enlisted<\/a> Securitize to launch trading in tokenised equities.<\/li>\n<li>At a16z, researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/a16z-predicts-the-end-of-internet-advertising-due-to-ai-agents\">predicted<\/a> the end of online advertising due to AI agents.<\/li>\n<li>A Neuralink patient <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/neuralink-patient-plays-world-of-warcraft-using-mind-control\">learned to<\/a> play World of Warcraft with his mind.<\/li>\n<li>Oil and precious metals <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/oil-and-precious-metals-oust-altcoins-boosting-hyperliquids-turnover\">displaced<\/a> altcoins, delivering billion-dollar volumes to Hyperliquid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Telegram bond redemption<\/h2>\n<p>Telegram founder Pavel Durov <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/telegram-settles-2021-bond-issuance\">said<\/a> the messenger had fully redeemed the convertible bonds issued five years ago.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2021 the company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/telegram-raises-1-billion-via-bond-issue\">issued<\/a> five-year dollar notes at 7% for a total of $1bn. The bonds gave investors the option to convert into Telegram equity at a 10% discount to the notional price in the event of an <span data-descr=\"initial public offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">IPO<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In May, on the same terms, the company additionally <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/media-telegram-launches-a-new-750-million-bond-issue\">issued<\/a> $750m of bonds.<\/p>\n<p>Durov said the monetisation strategy adopted five years ago allowed the messenger to turn profitable as early as 2024.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAs a result, our new bond issue last year was oversubscribed,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Media had reported that Telegram <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/telegram-begins-preparations-for-its-ipo\">planned<\/a> to list by end-2023.
