Network participants have several days to challenge potentially incorrect data.<\/p>\n<p>ZK-proofs will allow cryptographic verification of computations without waiting for the challenge period to end.<\/p>\n<p>According to the team, the innovations will:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>speed up finalization to one day;<\/li>\n<li>reduce reliance on the multi-day challenge window;<\/li>\n<li>make capital return from the second layer to the main Ethereum network more reliable and independent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe larger the network, the greater the need for sustainable infrastructure. Adding ZK-proofs is an important step towards enhancing security and stability,\u201d noted Base head Wilson Kassak.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Succinct described Base&#8217;s decision as the largest confirmation to date that the market is beginning to view ZK as a strategic vector for scaling the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>This scenario was previously described by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-ethereum-is-overcoming-the-scaling-trilemma\">urging<\/a> the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-zkevm\">zkEVM<\/a> and cryptographic proofs for block validation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The integration fits into Base&#8217;s broader strategy: the team is gradually replacing elements of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-optimism-op\">Optimism<\/a> stack with its own unified architecture, as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/base-shifts-from-optimism-stack-to-proprietary-architecture\">reported<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, on April 21, developers of the L2 solution <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/base-introduces-azul-update-on-testnet\">deployed<\/a> the Azul update in the testnet.
