Leading developers Barnab\u00e9 Monnot and Tim Beiko are leaving the organization, while Alex Stokes is taking a sabbatical.<\/p>\n<p>The new co-leaders of the division are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Will Corcoran \u2014 research coordinator (<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-zkevm\">zkVM<\/a>, post-quantum consensus);<\/li>\n<li>Kev Wedderburn \u2014 head of the zkEVM team;<\/li>\n<li>Fredrik \u2014 head of protocol security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Corcoran, the team will focus on preparing the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/a-quiet-evolution-why-whales-are-buying-ethereum-ahead-of-glamsterdam-and-hegota\">Glamsterdam and Hegota<\/a> updates. Developers plan to increase the gas limit to 200 million and implement a proposer-builder separation mechanism. In later upgrades, the priority will be network resilience against censorship.<\/p>\n<p>The reorganization occurs amid a series of departures from EF. Last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/0xstark\/status\/2044757694389670239\">Josh Stark<\/a> left the foundation, and in February, co-executive director <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/leadership-changes-at-the-ethereum-foundation\">Tomasz Stanczak<\/a> departed. Some specialists have moved to external projects, including the Tempo network.<\/p>\n<p>Monnot, who worked at EF for over six years, explained his departure as a desire to focus on the product side of Ethereum and improve user experience.<\/p>\n<p>The Protocol division is responsible for the design, security, and scaling of the network&#8217;s base layer. The team also coordinates AllCoreDevs developer meetings and cryptography research.<\/p>\n<p>Back in March, Gnosis and Zisk, with EF&#8217;s support, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-propose-economic-zone-to-address-l2-fragmentation\">created<\/a> a framework to unify the fragmented ecosystem of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\">second-layer networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Gnosis co-founder Friederike Ernst <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/l1-networks-to-join-ethereums-economic-zone\">announced<\/a> that not only L2 solutions might join the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Protocol team at EF has changed leadership.
